Cats For Christmas

Hello and Happy Sunday! It's late in the day here. I've just been puttering around on a lazy Sunday. Watched a YouTube for Sunday School class and then watched and listened to a previous presentation by The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square. It's always a great way to start the Sabbath day. Our church has started a limited Sacrament meeting, but I have opted not to go back yet.

I do have a card to share with your today for International Art & Soul. The theme for this fortnight is Inspired by a Book. Any project you would like to enter is welcome as long as you follow the theme in order to be a winner. I've had Christmas on my mind lately and this is one of my cards. It is based on the book, "The Cat Who Came For Christmas," by Cleveland Amory. If you haven't read it, it is a delightful true story of how Mr. Amory, a dedicated animal person, rescued his first cat on Christmas Eve.

Flowers and Butterflies times Four

Good morning and Happy Monday. I hope you all had a pleasant weekend. Mine was quiet and I was able to get in some time in my craft room to work on these lovely images. Two of my favorite things are flowers and butterflies.
I belong to a card kit swap on Splitcoast Stampers. Each member is assigned a month and they pick a theme for their month. During that month all the other members of the group send them a card kit full of images, designer paper, and all kinds of embellishments to make cards with. My month was awhile back, but I am just getting the time to play with all my kits. As you can tell, my theme was flowers and butterflies and I was not disappointed. This kit came from Darlene, and I loved playing with these images and coloring the different flowers and butterflies. The images are from Northwoods Rubber Stamps, but I could only find one of the images on their website. The designer paper is from Recollections, Conservatory Serre collection. Ribbons are from Stampin Up and the embellishments/bling are from her stash. My thanks to Darlene for such a fun kit.
I used Stampin Up Marigold Morning cardstock and the Sentiment is from Power Poppy - Good Thinking. The butterflies here are Monarchs and a Gulf Frittalary.
For this one, I used Stampin Up Tangerine Tango cardstock. The sentiment was cut from a piece of the designer paper. This butterfly should be a yellow swallowtail.
For this one, I used Stampin Up Pink Pirouette cardstock. I think the sentiment is from a Hero Arts set. The white butterfly is called an Orange Tip.
For this card, I used Stampin Up Bashful Blue cardstock. The butterfly is a Blue Northern. I added some bling for his body and some Denim ribbon.
Again, thanks to Darlene for such a wonderful kit. I still have one image of each to play with.

Spring Blooms

Good morning and Happy Friday! Yeah for the weekend. Of course, for me, it's just like any other day with being at  home. I do give myself a break from some of my weekly activities. Today I have three cards to show you, .These are from a card kit I received in a Splitcoast Stampers group that I am in. Each member is assigned a month and picks a theme for their kits. Then, each of the other members sends them a kit with images, sentiments, designer papers, and embellishments to make cards from.  My theme was flowers and/or butterflies. This is the first one I've had a chance to really work on. I received it from Terry. I love the images and the colors that she picked for it.

The images are from Inky Antics - Spring Blooms and Rose Oval stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on Neenah Classic Crest Super Smooth. The designer papers if Pebbles Garden Party. Cardstock is Stampin Up Coastal Cabana, Old Olive, and Papertrey Ink Berry Sorbet. All embellishments from Terry stash. Such fun and many thanks to Terry for a great and fun kit to work with.

Cup of Tea - IAS #89

Hello, Happy Sunday. I hope you all are doing well today. We've been having some rain, but it has cleared off for a little bit. I'm thankful because dinner eat my daughter's house is outside because of COVID-19. Don't want to eat in the rain or in the garage. We were in a drought, so the rain is welcome.

Today I am sharing a card for the International Art & Soul challenge. Hazel was the author of the theme of A Tea Party. Such fun. Did you have tea parties when you were a girl or maybe you still do? I combined the challenge with my favorite color - purple

This was easily put together. No coloring needed for this one.

Materials:
  • Image - Stampin Up - Tea Party
  • Cardstock - Stampin Up - Vintage Violet, Very Vanilla
  • Designer Paper - Basic Gray - Plumeria collection
  • Ink - Stampin Up - Vintage Violet
  • Accessories: Spellbinders - Gold Label Four; The Paper Studio - Flower
I hope you will hop on over to the IAS challenge blog and see what the rest of the design team has created for your inspiration. Then join in the fun and get creative.

Laugh and Dance in the Rain - CYS

Hi Friends. It's Friday night and almost the weekend. So looking forward to it. I have been having a busy week cleaning up and organizing my garage and my craft room. So much more to do and then work on closets and storage room. I hope to get it all done before school starts up again in mid-September.

Tonight I have my card finally ready for the Challenge Your Stash group on Splitcoast Stampers. I'm just three days late. This challenge is for a group where the hostess chooses a theme for the month and the rest of us create a card from the supplies in our stash without buying anything new for the card design. This month our hostess was Jeanette and her theme was for us to use at least three letters from the word JULY to create our card. I must confess I had a really hard time coming up with my card for this challenge, but I knew that I wanted to use Umbrella and Yellow so it was just a matter of coming up with something for J or L. I finally decided on J - Umbrella - Laugh (or Lost Lagoon) - Yellow.

Materials Used:
  • Image:  Twistoon - Dancing in the Rain
  • Sentiment: Computer generated
  • Cardstock: Xpress It Blending Card; Stampin Up Lost Lagoon
  • Designer Paper: My Mind's Eye - On the Bright Side collection
  • Accessories: Teardrop bling from my stash
  • Copic Markers: B0000, B000; B12, B14, B16; E41, E43, E44; E50, E51, E53
That's it for today. See you soon!

Poppies - CCC - July 2020

Good morning and Happy Sunday! I hope you all are doing well. My heart goes out to those in Southwest Texas this weekend dealing with Hurricane Hanna. Prayers that they will all stay safe and not sustain too much damage. We here in H Town know all too well how that goes.

It's been a busy week here. The last week of the semester. I was very happy (ELATED) to learn yesterday that my British Isles research project got the highest grade in the class 69 points out of a total of 70. WOO HOO! I never thought it would turn out that well. I received an A in the class. I haven't yet gotten my grade for my final essay in my Writings & Reasonings class, but I have a 95+% average so it won't affect my grade much. I am anxious to read what she thought of my essay. It was titled The Crazy Cat Lady.

On to the issue at hand. Here is my card for the SCS Creative Card Chicks Monthly Challenge. Each month one of the members sends out a card kit to the rest of the group and we each make at least one card out of the images and other embellishments sent to us. This month our hostess was Debby. Since the image was simple I tried to keep my card design simple also. I must admit that I did add a little sparkle to it.
Materials Used:
  • Image - Deadbeat Designs - Poppy
  • Sentiment - From one of my Cardmaker magazines
  • Ink - Memento Chocolate Brown; Tuxedo Black
  • Cardstock - SU - Crumb Cake
  • Designer Paper - Paper Studios
  • Accessories - Twine - Debby's stash; Paper Studios - enamel dots; SU dimensionals; Stampendous FranTage Golden Sand EP; Rose ultra fine glitter
  • Copic Markers - G21, G24; R05, R17, R27
That's it for now. I hope to have more time with the summer school break to play with my toys, but I am also doing some cleaning up and cleaning out of my garage and my craft room. I've already found stuff that I forgot I had. I need to figure out a way to store things so that I will still have them handy to use when needed.

Penguin Christmas - IAS #88

Good morning and Happy Sunday, my friends. I hope you are enjoying your Sabbath day. We seem to have cooled off down here in H Town. It's only in the mid 90s instead of over 100! Oh well, the humidity is down so it does feel a bit cooler out.

Maybe my card today will help you think cooler thoughts. This is for the
International Art & Soul challenge and the theme is a Christmas card based on a song. I took a little bit of liberty with my song - It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas. I thought these little guys were so cute.

 Materials Used:
  • Image - Gina K Designs - 'Tis the Sea-Sun
  • Sentiment - Same
  • Cardstock - Stampin Up Real Red; XPress It Blending Card
  • Ink - Stampin Up - Handsome Hunter; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Designer Paper - Bo Bunny - Silver and Gold Collection
  • Accessories - Bling from my stash; white liquid applique
  • Copic Markers - G43, G46; R14, R17, R46; T7, T10; Y15, Y1
