IAS #126 - All About Love/Hearts

Hello, my friends. Happy Sunday. We are having a beautiful day here even though it had a chilly start. I'll take whatever I can get since it's supposed to be down below freezing toward the end of the week. I'll be hibernating when that happens.

Today I have a card for the International Art & Soul challenge. I've had a rough month and this is the first card I've posted for 2022. I'm glad that it has to do with hearts. It was chosen by DT member, Debbie. She has also been going through some serious trials to start this year so please keep her and her family in your prayers. I don't make many Valentine cards anymore. I guess it's too soon after Christmas when I send cards out to everyone. I had this stamp in my Holiday drawer and not sure if I've used it before or not, but if I did, then it's been long ago so it's okay to use it again.

My Dream

Hello, my friends. Happy Friday. I hope the weather isn't too bad where you are. Here in H Town, we have cold, but not windy, so it's not too bad. At least the temps are below freezing. The sun is shining, but that won't be for long. I expect we will be getting some wet weather soon. I always felt like February was the gloomy, rainy month, but in 2022, January is sure vying for top spot.

I've had some time to work on a few cards in between breaks from my study group. Today I'm sharing one for the SCS Challenge Your Stash group. The idea is that we are to make a card using only items from our stash and not buy anything new for it. We have a hostess each month who chooses a theme for us to follow. It's always fun to see what everyone comes up with. This month our hostess was Jenn (Jennifrann) and she chose the theme "I Have a Dream." This wasn't too hard for me because I've had a dream for a number of years that I started really working toward back in 2017. The dream was to get my Bachelor's Degree. I'm happy to say that I am half way there having achieved my Applied Associate's Degree back in July 2021. I'll be going back to school starting in April to work on the second part of my degree program to finally get my Bachelor's Degree. Here is the card that I made for this. I guess in two and a half years I could send it to myself.

Materials Used:

  • Image - Whiff of Joy - Graduation Willow
  • Sentiment - Stampendous - Cap & Gown Day
  • Cardstock - Stampin Up Midnight Muse; Xpress It Blending Card
  • Designer Paper - My Mind's Eye - Izzy Collection
  • Accessories - Stampin Up Label Punch
  • Copic Markers - B24, B26; E000, E00, E02, E06; E40, E41; R08; Y11, Y15, Y18, Y19, Y26
That's all for today. I hope to get some more crafty time in my craft room, but I also have to work on my research report. Wishing you a fabulous weekend.

Blue and Silver Birthday

Hello my friends, I hope you are enjoying your day and not too much inundated with snow and other winter weather. I had hoped to travel to New Jersey this week to attend funeral services for my older brother who passed away on January 13 after a very short battle with COVID and other lung issues. The weather there was to be pretty bad and neither my daughter (who was going to go with me) nor I have any experience in driving in that kind of weather. I plan to go there later in the year in the summer to have a nice visit with the East coast family.

Today I have a card to share with you for the SCS Creative Card Chicks. We are a group that like to have fun with creating our cards. Each month there is a hostess and she sends out a kit to the rest of the members and we each make at least one card and post it on SCS between the 21st and 23rd of the month. January was an open month in having a kit hostess so I volunteered to give a challenge to the group instead of sending out a kit which I'll do later in the year. My challenge to them was to make a card using light blue, dark blue, and silver. I ended up adding a bit more color to my card because I liked this designer paper.

I don't know why I can never get a good photo of my cards. This one is a little lopsided.

Materials Used:

  • Image - My Favorite Things - Birthday Cutie
  • Sentiment - MFT - Birthday Cutie (on inside of card)
  • Cardstock - Stampin Up - Baja Breeze, Midnight Muse, Silver; Xpress It Blending Card
  • Designer Paper - Bo Bunny - Prairie Chic collection
  • Accessories - Recollections - Flower and lace; Martha Stewart punch; silver gel pen
  • Copic Markers - B000, B00; B93, B95, B97; E000, E00, E02; W0, W1, W3; Y11, Y26, Y28, Y32

That's it for today. I've been busy making a bunch of cards that I need to get posted, so I'll probably have some more soon.

Poinsettias and Holly plus Christmas Deer

Hello again. This is post number two for today. I really wanted to finish up posting all these card kit images that I worked on last month. This kit was chock full of images to color and some that were already cut out. They were all fun to work with. I received this kit from Shelly (mcschmidty on SCS). I was able to make four cards out of what she sent in the kit. I think there are still a few images leftover which I'm sure I'll be using down the road later this year.

These first two were images that I colored with my Copic markers and then made a card from the images. The images are from GinaK and the paper from The Paper Studio. The embellishments were from her stash. The cardstock I used was Stampin Up Handsome Hunter. I didn't have to use too many markers for these: G21, G24, G28; R24, R37; R56; Y19.

These next two cards were made from die cuts that Shelly sent me - large deer from Tim Holtz and the small deer from Impression Obsession. The Joy die cut is from Lawn Fawn.

Using these die cuts really made it easy to put these cards together. Thanks Shelly for a really fun kit. I hate that you are leaving our group in 2022.

Nutty & Bright

Hello, my friends. Happy Saturday. We are already one week into the New Year. I hope it is good for you so far and it stays that way through 2022. We've had a bit of cold weather down here in H Town, I think summer is finally over.

Today I have a few more cards to share with you from the 2021 card kits that I received that I used for Christmas cards this past year. These two are from a kit I received from Barb (barbaralynn on SCS). The images were so cute. I love squirrels and feed about 7-9 of them that come eat in my yard.

Here are two cards that I made with Barb's kit. I still have some leftovers, so I'm sure I'll be using them up later.

 Kit Materials:

  • Images: Simon Says Stamp - Nutty& Bright
  • Sentiments - Same
  • Cardstock - Stampin Up Cherry Cobbler
  • Designer Paper - Stampin Up Snow Festival
  • Accessories - Stampin Up Gumball Green twine; Stampin Up Cherry Cobbler ribbon; snowflakes
  • Copic Markers - B0000; E29; E70, E71, E74; E84, E87; G21, G24, G28; N10; R17, R29; 0

Thanks Barb for a fun kit to play with.

Santa and His Reindeer

Hello again, my friends. Here I am again today with some more of my card kit Christmas cards. This kit came from Terry Serman. She sent images and also cut out images and loads of embellishments to use. I had such fun with this kit.

All cards were made using  Wplus9 Santa's Reindeer images; designer paper Carta Bella Merry Christmas.

Card No. 1 - Stampin Up cardstock - Mossy Meadow; bling and washi tape - Terry's stash; Copic Markers - E33, E35, E37; G21; N10, R17, R46.

 Card No. 2 - Cardstock - Stampin Up Bashful Blue and silver glitter cardstock; Copic Markers, E50, E51, E53; N10, R17, R27; Y18.

Card No. 3 - Stampin Up cardstock- Real Red; Copic Markers E33, E35, E37; N10; R46; Y18

 Card No. 4 - This one is similar to a card that Terry included in her kit. Cardstock - Stampin Up Whisper White, Handsome Hunter; Copic Markers - B0000; E21, E22, E25; E50, E51, E53; N10, G24; R00, R17, R27; Y19

That's all for today. Thanks so much Terry for a great card kit. I still have some images left that I intend to use.

Noel Christmas

Hello again my friends. It's Monday late afternoon. I was able to finish taking my tree down and now everything is packed away until next time. I did pull out just a couple of things that I haven't used in a few years that I'm going to donate to an organization.

I've got some more cards to share. These cards were from a card kit from Darlene (luvcardmaking on SCS). Her stamp set and pattern paper was from Craft Consortium. I made one more card, but unfortunately, I didn't get a photo of it. Sorry, Darlene. Also, the one with NOEL on it was put on a card base with a dp of my own.

These were pretty easy to put together. Both use Stampin Up Real Red cardstock for the card base. Card #1 has the Craft Consortium designer paper. I also used the Nestabilities oval die and Lacey scallop oval die mounted over a strip of ribbon included in the kit and then added the poinsettia flowers along the bottom. The only Copic markers were R46 and G21.

Card #2 used the same stamp set which was cut with another Nestabilities die. I added a few red stars and a bow made with Stampin Up Real Red cardstock. Lucky they were easy to make. Thanks Darlene for the fun card kit.

Christmas Birds and Bunnies

Hello my friends. Happy Sunday evening. It's the day after the New Year started. I spent most of the day taking down decorations from around the house and off the tree packing everything away in their crates. I tried to be more organized with everything so I hope I have an easier time next year getting it all back out again. I'm so glad that I purchased a plastic crate a few years ago to pack away the tree ornaments. It's large and has three layers with dividers to keep them all separate so they don't get broken. It makes it so easy to put away and bring out. I had a couple of Christmas movies on while I worked and that made the time go by faster.

Now I'm playing catch up with all the cards I made over the month of December for my Christmas cards. I found that I didn't have enough from what I made through the year. Lucky for me I was in a card swap group where we got to choose our theme for the card kits that the other members sent to us and my theme was Christmas. So I got all my kits out and made a bunch of Christmas cards.  Here are the first two. I'll have a few posts over the next several days getting them all on my blog.

This kit was from Tracie (taclary on SCS). She sent me a stamp set and tons of embellishments to use. I made one card with the birds and one with the bunnies. I neglected to write down what designer paper she sent.

Materials used:

  • Images - Stampendous, Birds and Bunnies
  • Card 2 Sentiment - wooden cut outs
  • Cardstock #1 - Stampin Up Wasabi; Card #2 - Stampin Up Bordering Blue
  • Ink  - Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Accessories - Frantage White; White liquid applique; Snowflake sequins, red flower sequins; poinsettia; ribbon; Nestabilities round die, scallop round die.
  • Copic Markers; E000, E04, E07, E08, E13, E23; E30; G12, G21; R05, R14, R17, R37; N04, Y18

I will most likely be using this set again this coming year to make up some more cards. I love the images. Wishing you a very blessed and Happy New Year!
