Groovy Birthday and MFT Wednesday Sketch #43

Had some fun putting this card together.  I've been wanting to make a card using some bling flourish and I finally got to do that with this card.
I made this card for the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge No. 43. The stamp is MFT Time to Celebrate.  I used SU Ruby Red as the base for the card.  The image was stamped on Copics Blending paper stamped with Memento Black ink and colored with my Copics and then matted on SU Ruby Red.  The dp is SU Ginger Blossom.  The pearls, flourish, ribbon, and flower are all from my stash.  I used Ranger White Opal Iridescent Pearls for the ice on the cake and some gold Stickles on the candles.

Copics I used were B0000; E07; R000, R01, R02, R12; R20, R21, R22, R37; Y08, Y11, Y13; YG91, YG93; W0

Hope you like it.

Perfect Sentiments Get Well Embossing Challenge

It's that time of the week again.   Time for another Perfect Sentiments Challenge.  This time the challenge was to make a get well card, but to use embossing on the card somewhere.  Fun!  This card did not start out to look like this, but after some tweaking and moving pieces around, this was the final design layout.  It was inspired by a card down on Splitcoaststampers by Kauai17.
The stamp is an old favorite from Stampin Bella called Feelabella.  I stamped the image on GP White using Memento Tuxedo Black and distressed the edges.  Then layered it on a p..iece of SU Rich Razzleberry.  The base of the card is just white with a layer of SU dp on top, which I embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder.  I tried to find out which dp package it came from, but I couldn't find it.  The other piece across the bottom comes from the same package.  It's actually the reverse side of the base layer.

I used my Nestabilities Label Four set to cut out the sentiment pieces.  I stamped the sentiment using SU Rich Razzleberry stamped on white and layered on SU Rich Razzleberry cs.  The ribbon and flowers come from my stash.

I used Copics to color in the image: E0000, E000, E02, E11; E13, E15, E17, E19; Y00, Y02, Y08, Y38; B0000, B00, B93; YG11, YG61, YG63; RV13, RV19, RV21, RV23; YR04, YR12, YR14, YR16; W00, W1

Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate all your comments and do read them all.  Hope you have a great and blessed day.

Chrystal's Baby Shower

Well, last week was a very busy week for my. I hosted a Baby Shower for a good friend from my church.  She and her husband have been married for 8 years and have been wanting a baby, but none came until now!  They are having their first baby and I'm so excited for them.  They are the sweetest (and funniest) couple.  I know they're going to be great parents.  It turned out to be much more work than I thought it was going to be even with a little help.

First of all, she doesn't want to know the gender of the baby, so nothing was pink or blue.  The theme in her nursery is Jungle.  It's all really cute.  I decided that I'd make her shower invitations instead of buying them.  I think next time I might opt for buying.  ;)   There was no stamping involved.  I printed them out on my computer and then edge punched the top and folded that trim over.  Then I used my Cricut to cut out a bunch of different animal shapes and stuck one on each invitation.  It was inspired by someone on Splitcoaststampers, but I don't remember who it was.
They did turn out pretty cute and I got some compliments on them  Next is a photo of the girl who's shower it was and the two of us who gave the shower.
We had 15 at the shower which was about 5 more than I thought we'd have, but everyone who RSVP'd actually came.  It was a lot of fun and a good time was had by all.

October Monthly Challenge and Paper Bloggers Unite Challenge

Well, this card will serve two purposes this month.

First it is a kit I got from SoniB over on the Monthly Challenge thread for October (Yikes  I have to get a kit together for November!).  She sent us all a ton of stuff to play with and this is only the first card I had the chance to make.  Since I'm partial to kitty furry babies, I chose this image to play with.
I don't usually send out Halloween cards, but I may have to make a change on that.  They are fun to create.

First I used SU Green Galore as my card base.  The Pumpkin Pie embossed edge was sent in the kit.  I just layered that on the base.  I colored my image with Copics (big surprise!).  I cut the corners using my SU ticket punch and then matted it on a piece of Pumpkin Pie.  Using some sparkly black brads I adhered that to the piece of "Blackbird" paper from In My Mind's Eye.  I love that set of papers.  Before layering that on the card, I used a piece of black ribbon and tied that over the embossed layer.  There was that empty little corner up in the left, so I found this cute sticker from Echo Park that fit just fine.

The Copics I used were  YR00, YR02, YR04, YR07, G03, G05, G07, W0, W2, W4, 0.

Second it also serves to complete the Paper Bloggers United color challenge from ScrappinCEO this month.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I appreciate all comments.  Have a blessed day.

Perfect Sentiments Friendship Challenge

I love the colors that were chosen using this photo to make the card shown on the website.  http://perfectsentimentschallenge.blogspot.com/

I thought I'd combine it with the My Favorite Things Challenge #41.

I started out with SU Early Espresso for the card base.  The dp is Basic Gray Figgy Pudding.  I love BG.  I stamped the sentiment with Memento Black on SU Very Vanilla and then used my Copics (BG000, BG11, and BG45) to color in the Friends.  I punched out 2 flowers using SU Boho Blossoms punch out of the Figgy Pudding dp and adhered them to the sentiment panel using 2 Vanilla brads.  I sponged around the panel using SU Cool Carribean and layered it on top of the base dp layer.

For the base (inside of the card), I cut a piece of the Very Vanilla c/s and layered it on the base and then put a strip of Recollections Boutique Fleur trim across the edge.  A good card's got to have bling, so I put 3 little Martha Stewart rhinestones up in the corner.   That's it!

Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate your comments.

September Monthly Challenge #2

This is another great image I got from Roxie for the SCS Monthly Challenge for September.  These challenges are really great because they make you think outside the box since we mostly play with the kit that's sent to us although that is not written in stone.

I used SU Red Riding Hood for the base of the card.  The dp is from SU Jolly Holiday.  I layered the image which I had colored with my Copics onto a piece of SU Green Galore and layered that over the dp.  I cut a photo corner out of SU Blush Blossom using my SU punch and then stamped "for you" using Memento Black into onto Blush Blossom and punched it with my SU small oval punch.

The Copics I used were E0000, E01, E02, E17, E21, E23, E25, E30, E31, E34, E50, E51, E53, R24, R27, R29, G07, G09, Y11, Y15, and Y28.

Thanks for stopping by and looking.  I love to receive comments. Have a wonderful day.

September Monthly Challenge No. 1

September was a busy month, but I did get to play with the September images that Roxie sent (a/k/a on SCS as morgainegeiser).  They were so cute and I loved coloring them with my Copics.  The items she sent were a Back to School theme.  I managed to get 2 cards done and this is the first one.
The image is from The Greeting Farm - Honey Teacher.  I used my Copics to color her - For Skin E0000, E000, E00; For hair and shoes E50, E53, E55, E57, E59; The rest of her B32, B34, G05, G09, YG13, Y18, R24, R27, and W0.

The card base is SU Ruby Red and I used a piece of SU Green Galore for the strip across the bottom of the dp.  The dp was sent in the package so I don't know where that's from.  I stamped the sentiment (which was in the kit) with Ruby Red onto Whisper White and punched it out with my 1" circle punch and then matted it onto a 1 1/4" circle punched out of Ruby Red.  Added some Prima flowers to give it some pizzazz!

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day!

Perfect Sentiment Challenge No 1

My friend Jennipher has started a new blog challenge called Perfect Sentiments Challenge here http://perfectsentimentschallenge.blogspot.com/  I hope you all go check it out.  It's going to be a lot of fun.  I had time this week to play around a little bit and made this card for the challenge.  The idea was to make a sympathy card (you know you never have one of these when you need it).  But the twist was to use some lace on your card.

First, I inked up my stamp (SU Close As A Memory - I love this stamp set) with my SU Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie Markers which I stamped on watercolor paper.  I then spritzed it using Gold Glimmer Mist.  It's hard to see the shimmer in the photo, but it looks really pretty IRL.  I cut that out with my Marvy circle punch and adhered it to a scallop circle (cut with my Nestabilities) from a piece of dp from SU Linen Prints.  I added some small bling to the flowers to pop them out a bit.

The base of the card is SU Peach Parfait (4 1/4 x 5 1/2) over which I layered another piece of SU Linen Prints (4 x 5 1/4) and put a piece of lace (Recollections) over it and under the image layer.  I then stamped the sentiment (also from Close as a Memory) onto SU Very Vanilla c/s and layered it onto a piece of Peach Parfait and then added a little bling dot to it. and layered it on the top of the card.

I hope you like it.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

The Outlawz

Come join the fun at The Outlawz. They have daily challenges and lots of great prizes. They are having a 1000 member party from October 3 to October 9. Hope to see you there.

Lots of fun.  Don't let it pass you by!

Star Birthday Dry Emboss Resist Technique

Okay.  Starting on row 2 of the Techniques.  This one is dry embossing on glossy c/s and then using Tim Holtz Distress Ink to color it.  The instructions said to punch the images first and then emboss, but I found it easier just to emboss the c/s and then I added the colors to that and overlapped the colors somewhat which gave it a good effect.
I used the Paisley embossing folder and embossed a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch piece of SU White Glossy c/s.  After I embossed the c/s, I took a piece of light sandpaper and sanded the top of the c/s to remove most of the gloss off it.  I then used the Tim Holtz sponge applicator and applied Distress Inks around the paper with Broken China, Wild Honey, and Fried Brick.  Then I punch out the stars using the SU large and small Star Punches.  I cut a large circle of SU Chocolate Chip and stamped the sentiment from the SU Happiest Birthday Wishes stamp set using Versamark and then embossed it with white embossing powder.  Then it was just a matter of placing the stars around the circle.  The base of the card is SU Confetti Cream.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Hope you have a wonderful day!

Canvas Resist Technique

My sticky-back canvas finally arrived so I was able to finish up Row 1 of the Techniques class.  Life has been rather busy so it's taken me awhile to finish this up.  This was the first time I've done this technique and I'm enjoying using the Tim Holtz Distress Inks on these projects.  I can see that I'm going to have to purchase some additional colors.  The good thing is if you use the sponges to apply your ink, you can save those sponges and re-use them.

I used SU Confetti Cream for the base of this card using SU Crumb Cake to stamp SU Petite Print as the background.  I used an image from SU Day of Gratitude stamped with Versamark on the Sticky Back Canvas and embossed it using white embossing powder.  Then using the Tim Holtz Sponge Applicator, I used Distress Inks - Walnut Stain, Peeled Paint, Fried Brick, and wild Honey and randoming inked up the image.  The added touches - stamped "hello" from SU Pennant Parade using Crumb cake on Confetti Cream and punched it out with the SU Window Punch.  I tied a bow using a piece of twine and adhered a flower sticker from Sandylion stickers to finish it off.

This is a photo of my first row of techniques.
Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate all comments.
