Laugh and Dance in the Rain - CYS

Hi Friends. It's Friday night and almost the weekend. So looking forward to it. I have been having a busy week cleaning up and organizing my garage and my craft room. So much more to do and then work on closets and storage room. I hope to get it all done before school starts up again in mid-September.

Tonight I have my card finally ready for the Challenge Your Stash group on Splitcoast Stampers. I'm just three days late. This challenge is for a group where the hostess chooses a theme for the month and the rest of us create a card from the supplies in our stash without buying anything new for the card design. This month our hostess was Jeanette and her theme was for us to use at least three letters from the word JULY to create our card. I must confess I had a really hard time coming up with my card for this challenge, but I knew that I wanted to use Umbrella and Yellow so it was just a matter of coming up with something for J or L. I finally decided on J - Umbrella - Laugh (or Lost Lagoon) - Yellow.

Materials Used:
  • Image:  Twistoon - Dancing in the Rain
  • Sentiment: Computer generated
  • Cardstock: Xpress It Blending Card; Stampin Up Lost Lagoon
  • Designer Paper: My Mind's Eye - On the Bright Side collection
  • Accessories: Teardrop bling from my stash
  • Copic Markers: B0000, B000; B12, B14, B16; E41, E43, E44; E50, E51, E53
That's it for today. See you soon!

Poppies - CCC - July 2020

Good morning and Happy Sunday! I hope you all are doing well. My heart goes out to those in Southwest Texas this weekend dealing with Hurricane Hanna. Prayers that they will all stay safe and not sustain too much damage. We here in H Town know all too well how that goes.

It's been a busy week here. The last week of the semester. I was very happy (ELATED) to learn yesterday that my British Isles research project got the highest grade in the class 69 points out of a total of 70. WOO HOO! I never thought it would turn out that well. I received an A in the class. I haven't yet gotten my grade for my final essay in my Writings & Reasonings class, but I have a 95+% average so it won't affect my grade much. I am anxious to read what she thought of my essay. It was titled The Crazy Cat Lady.

On to the issue at hand. Here is my card for the SCS Creative Card Chicks Monthly Challenge. Each month one of the members sends out a card kit to the rest of the group and we each make at least one card out of the images and other embellishments sent to us. This month our hostess was Debby. Since the image was simple I tried to keep my card design simple also. I must admit that I did add a little sparkle to it.
Materials Used:
  • Image - Deadbeat Designs - Poppy
  • Sentiment - From one of my Cardmaker magazines
  • Ink - Memento Chocolate Brown; Tuxedo Black
  • Cardstock - SU - Crumb Cake
  • Designer Paper - Paper Studios
  • Accessories - Twine - Debby's stash; Paper Studios - enamel dots; SU dimensionals; Stampendous FranTage Golden Sand EP; Rose ultra fine glitter
  • Copic Markers - G21, G24; R05, R17, R27
That's it for now. I hope to have more time with the summer school break to play with my toys, but I am also doing some cleaning up and cleaning out of my garage and my craft room. I've already found stuff that I forgot I had. I need to figure out a way to store things so that I will still have them handy to use when needed.

Penguin Christmas - IAS #88

Good morning and Happy Sunday, my friends. I hope you are enjoying your Sabbath day. We seem to have cooled off down here in H Town. It's only in the mid 90s instead of over 100! Oh well, the humidity is down so it does feel a bit cooler out.

Maybe my card today will help you think cooler thoughts. This is for the
International Art & Soul challenge and the theme is a Christmas card based on a song. I took a little bit of liberty with my song - It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas. I thought these little guys were so cute.

 Materials Used:
  • Image - Gina K Designs - 'Tis the Sea-Sun
  • Sentiment - Same
  • Cardstock - Stampin Up Real Red; XPress It Blending Card
  • Ink - Stampin Up - Handsome Hunter; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Designer Paper - Bo Bunny - Silver and Gold Collection
  • Accessories - Bling from my stash; white liquid applique
  • Copic Markers - G43, G46; R14, R17, R46; T7, T10; Y15, Y1
I hope you all will get into the "Spirit" of the holidays and join in the fun over at IAS. Come see what the rest of the design team has created. They are so diverse. Pick you favorite Christmas Carol and join in the fun.

Holiday Wishes

Hello again, my friends. Happy Friday! Looking forward to the weekend. No plans, of course, except housecleaning and laundry. Looking forward to only two more weeks of school for this semester.

I've got another Christmas card to share today for the SCS Fan Club Christmas challenge. This one is for the month of April - the color was Gray. I think silver qualifies, right? It was super easy to put together once I figured out what I was going to do for it.

Materials Used:
  • Image - Stampin Up - Holiday Wishes
  • Ink - Versamark
  • Cardstock - SU Real Red; The Paper Cut - silver glitter paper
  • Designer Paper - Allison Kraft - Christmas
  • Accessories - Silver embossing powder, snowflake die
This one would be easy to replicate and make a few of them without too much fuss.

Merry in Pink

Hello, my friends. Happy Friday Eve. I'm playing catch up tonight with a host of Christmas cards I've been making over the last several months and have not had time to post them to my blog. This one was due to be posted back in February. Somehow, things got away from me and it didn't get there. I am making these for the SCS Fan Club Christmas Challenge. No prizes or anything, just fun to get some incentive to make Christmas cards through the year so I am not scrambling around at the last minute getting them made.

Materials used:
  • Image - Stamping Up - Christmas in the Making
  • Sentiment - Same
  • Cardstock - Stampin Up Pink Pirouette; Xpress It Blending Card
  • Designer Paper - Fancy Pants - Winterland
  • Ink - Memento - Tuxedo Black
  • Accessories - white pearl bling; white liquid applique
  • Copic Markers - B000; E23; E40; E50, E51, E53; R00, R01, R02; R14, R27; Y08, Y23; YG61, YG63
That's it for today. I hope to be back tomorrow with April's card. I already posted for March.

Tiny Things Cafe - IAS #87

Good morning, my friends. I hope you are enjoying your Sunday. Of course, it is hot and dry right now in H Town although we may have some rain later. I hope it doesn't interfere with our outside dining later with my daughter and family.

Today I have a card I made for International Art & Soul challenge. The theme is Tiny Things. That leaves it open to whatever tiny thing you want to create. Here is my card.

Sorry, I hate how the photo of this turned out. I was going to redo it but didn't get the chance. I also did not write down all the elements that I used.

Materials Used:

  • The stamp set is Papertrey Ink Petite Places - Main Street. I love all these little sets that you can use to make cards or 3D items. My card is also a CAS from Heather Nichols for the July 2015 release.
  • Cardstock SU Early Espresso and Real Red
  • Ink - SU Early Espresso, Real Red, not sure which blue I used for the door.
  • Added a little bling to the upper right corner just for added interest.
I really need to start using these stamp sets more. They have been languishing in my stamp drawers.

I hope you will pop on over to the website and see what the rest of the design team has created. While you are there, post your own Tiny Things creation.  See you soon.
