Happy New Year 2018 - Creatalicious #130

Hi my friends.  Here it is, the last day of 2017!  I, for one, am glad to see it go and hope that 2018 is a much better year. It's a little noisy in my neighborhood. The people who live behind me are having a party in their backyard with music and singing!  I was hoping it was too cold for this sort of thing, but it looks like they have a fire pit out there. I can see flames. Hope they don't set their house on fire. Also some fireworks going off in the street over there.

I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas celebrations. I just got home last night from California and visiting with my oldest daughter, son-in-law and their youngest daughter. My other granddaughter and her husband were visiting his family in Arizona. Missed seeing them.

My card today is kind of doing double duty. That's kind of cheating, but with being ill and being away for Christmas I ran out of time and this one just fit the bill for two different challenges. I didn't even plan it that way, but turned out that way.

This is mainly for my Creatalicious Challenge card. The theme was Anything Goes  with optional Wishes. Also, I was the hostess for the Challenge Your Stash challenge this month, and my theme was to make a New Year's card without using any images of alcoholic beverages on it.

Materials Used:
  • Image - Penguin Friend (I thought this was a digital, but I can't find it in my stash)
  • Sentiment - computer generated
  • Cardstock - Stampin Up; Xpress It Blending Card
  • Designer Paper - Basic Gray - Juniper Berry
  • Accessories - Lace and Rick Rack from my stash; circle punches
  • Copic Markers - B0000, B000, B00; B14, B60; E42, E44, E47; E50, E51, E53; C2, C3, C7; R01, R35, R46, R59; Y17, Y19, Y38, Y26.
Our generous sponsor for this challenge is

 Prize  -  $15 gift cert.

I hope that you'll join us in showing us your wishes card. Just head on over to the Creatalicious Challenge website and see what the rest of the Design Team has to show you and let's see your creation. You could be the winner of this prize or be picked as one of the Top 3.

Also, Melanie is still looking for some new members for the Design Team. This is a great bunch of ladies to work with and we get to choose fun images or sometimes use our own images like I did for this one. There are two teams - one that posts on the 15th and one that posts on the last day of the month, so you'll only have to create one card each month.

I am submitting this card for the following:

Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - Anything Goes
A Gem of a Challenge - Anything Goes
Di's Digi Designs - Celebrations
Hiding in my Craft Room - Freestyle

Challlenge Your Stash - Gift Card Holder

Hello again. This is my second post of the day. Playing catch up.

For November, our theme was to Make a Gift Card Holder. Our Hostess was Vicky Y. This was just right for me since both my SIL's are getting gift cards for Christmas and I like to have something cute to put them in. I was looking through my stash of supplies and came across this little lunch box tin. It originally contained candy. I think I got it years ago at the Target Dollor Spot. Luckily, the sides and handle were already plain red, so all I had to do was cover the sides and then around the middle of the tin.

Then I just used some paper embellishments I've had in my stash for a long time along with tying ribbons to the handle. All done!.  Just perfect size for a Gift Card.

JOY - Creative Card Chilcks

Hi my friends. Happy Sunday. Things are moving right along toward Christmas. The weather outside has been frightful! One day in the upper 70's and the next day freezing with SNOW! That's right, we actually had snow here in H Town on Friday. Of course it didn't last long, but it was crazy to see it. I don't like the cold weather much, so I'm hoping we don't have any more of the white stuff this Winter.

I'm running rather late for getting my card posted for the Creative Card Chicks challenge for November and I was even the hostess this month. With the illness I've been dealing with and trying to get school work done, it's been really busy. Only 1 more week in this semester and then a few weeks off till the next semester starts.

Materials Used:

  • Image - Stamplistic - Christmas Tree
  • Sentiment - Melissa Frances - Wooden Elements
  • Cardstock - Stampin Up - Real Read
  • Designer Papr - Stampin Up
  • Accessories - Stampin Up ribbon; bling, stars from my stash; Gel pen; Stickles
  • Copic Marker - Y15; E25
This was pretty easy except for cutting out the four layers for the tree. Each one is graduated smaller which gives it dimension.

Christmas Fairy - Creatalicious #128

Hi my friends and welcome to December!  Feels more like September here - lovely Indian Summer weather, but not for long. Cold air is on the way. So not ready for that.

Just to let you know that I am feeling somewhat better today, each day a little more. I am actually doing okay when I am standing on my feet doing things rather than sitting and irritating the firey nerve endings where I have the rash. It is finally clearing up after a week of torture. Not sure how long this part of it will last though. Some say the pain is slow to recede. I was actually able to go outside today and do a bit of "yard" clean up. I have a bunch of plastic store gallon pots that I had milkweed in last year for my butterflies that I was saving. Decided it was time to get rid of all that, so I dumped the dirt from a bunch of them into my flower bed. I'll return the pots to the nursery the next time I go. Yard looks so much better.

Well, on the business at hand. I do have a card to share with you today that I made for the Creatalicious Challenge #128. Our theme this fortnight is Anything Goes with the Optional of Flourishes. I did use a sparkley flourish on my card.

Materials Used:
Image - FabrikaFantasy - Christmas Fairy
Sentiment - American Crafts embellishments
Cardstock - Stampin Up Cherry Cobbler; Xpress It Blending Card
Designer Paper - Stampin Up
Accessories - Ribbon, Flourish from my stash; Stickles
Copic Markers - E23, E25, E27; E30, E31, E33; E50, E51, E53; R24, R37, R39; YG00, YG03

Prize  -  3 digi images

I hope that you'll pop on over and join us in the fun. You could be the winner of this prize or picked as one of the Top 3.  Oh, and by the way, there is a DT Call for 3 Team Members, so check that out too. It's tons of fun.

Under Glass - IAS #22

Hello my friends. It's been awhile since I've been able to post something here on my blog. School is almost done for this Semester, so hopefully I'll have some time. I'm also hoping that next Semester isn't as crazy as this one has been.

I'm a little late getting this one posted. I ended up in the ER yesterday morning and was diagnosed with Shingles. Ugh! Not fun at all. They gave me some meds and I saw my own PCP today w ho gave me a script for pain medication. Hopefully they will all help clear this up. My sister and cousin both had this last year and my oldest daughter is just getting over a bought of it. Is there an epidemic going around?  I will be getting the shot in the Spring when this is all out of my system and hope that I don't get it again.

I'm glad I was finally able to get a card done for International Art & Soul. It's been awhile.

Materials Used:
Image - Power Poppy - Under Glass - Christmas Keepsakes
Sentiment - Power Poppy - Under Glass - Christmas Keepsakes

Copic Markers - B0000, B00, B12, G24, G28; R24, R27; Y18

Hope to have them ready soon.  I hope you'll hop on over to IAS and join us for this challenge. Great time to get some Christmas cards done. That's knocking on our doorstep. As always, you could be the top winner or picked as one of the Top 3.  It's all for fun. Keep well.

Halloween Witchy - CYS

Hello my friends, Happy Sunday. Only two more days until Halloween! Do you celebrate? Do you still take the kids Trick or Treating or do something else - party, Trunk or Treat? I always loved to see the little children come by in their cute costumes. I dress up a little bit for work that I can get away with: my ghost earrings and Halloween socks

My card that I have to share with you is in celebration of Halloween. One of the groups I belong to on Splitcoaststampers.com is the Challenge Your Stash. Every month one of the members is the hostess and she picks the theme. Then each of us use only those items we already own to make our card - no using anything new. This month Jody was our hostess and her challenge was to make a Halloween card - either cute or spooky. As I said, I love Halloween, but I think my card is probably a little spooky, but hopefully also cute.
Materials Used
Image - Whimsey Stamps - Elf Queen
Cardstock - Xpress It Blending Card; Stampin Up Orchid Opulence
All embellishments from my stash
Copic Markers -B0000; C00, C0; T5, T7; V01, V06, V12; Y0000, YG11, YG61, YG63

I am submitting this for the following challenges:

Postage Due - CCC

Hi my friends. The 21st has come and gone. That's the day I was supposed to be getting this posted but I happened to be out of town this past weekend in San Antonio with my two daughters. They treated me to a girls' weekend for my birthday. It was fabulous. The weather was perfect and we three had a great time. Lots to do there and we only did a drop in the bucket. A river cruise along the Riverwalk was first, then the Alamo and the Tower of the Americas. Went to the Majestic Theater (beautiful) to see The King and I and then a trip to Market Square. In between these events was lots of walking and eating!  The car stayed parked in the garage the whole time and lucky we had great weather with all the walking we did.

Back to the real world. Today I have a card for the Creative Card Chicks Monthly Challenge on Splitcoaststampers. Our hostess for this month is Sue aka stampinspooky. I must say this kit was a challenge for me, but once I thought about it and moved things around, it came together.
The stamps are from a Stampin Up set called Postage Due. I used Tangerine Tango for my card base and mat. The border was sent in the kit cut from the same color cardstock. The designer paper is from Stampin Up Venetian Romance. The butterflies came in the kit, but I added the bling to the large one and along the upper right edge. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with this one yet, so I didn't add a sentiment to the front. I'll figure that out later and put it on the inside.

Thanks for stopping by.

We do have a Design Team call, so if any of you are looking to join a new team, now's your chance. It's a great group. Spooky - CYS

Hello again my friends. Happy Thursday. It's the 28th of the month so that means it's another challenge from Challenge Your Stash on Splitcoaststampers. The idea is to use things that are in your stash and not go buy something new to use to make your card. We are given a theme to use and then go from there. This month our hostess was Terry S and her theme was to use Washi tape or our cards. I was good with that. I have a whole box of Washi that I hardly ever use, so it was good to get some of it out to play with. I had a Halloween theme in mind.

Materials Used:
Image - Besties - Not So Wicked Wendy
Sentiment - from some dp in my stash
Cardstock - Xpress It Blending Card; Stampin Up Pumpkin Pie
Designer Paper - A piece from my stash.
Accessories - Washi Tape - C3, C5, C7; E25; E50, E51, E53; E93; G21, G24, G28; R20; V01, V04, V05; Y19, Y21, Y28; YR15, YR16, YR18; YR24

That's it for today.

Autumn Leaves are Falling

Hi my friends. I hope you are all doing well. Everything is well at my house although people are still cleaning up from Harvey and will be in the process of rebuilding their homes and their lives for some time to come. It's heartbreaking.

I've added something new to my life.  I've gone back to college!!!  Wow! It's been a long time, but this time I intend to finish what I've started. The plan is to eventually (3 years) receive my Associates Degree in Family History Research and then become a certified genealogist. Currently though I'm taking the prerequisites to apply for the Associates Degree.

Meantime I try to fudge in a few minutes here and there to play in my craft room. I have a few cards that will be showing up on my blog in the next few days. The first one is way late getting posted. It was supposed to be posted Sept. 21-23, but things were just way to busy to get that done. This card was for the monthly challenge over on the Creative Card Chicks thread on Splitcoaststampers. Our hostess this month was Kelly Henkins a/k/a Kelly 2 a/k/a ScappinCEO.  Kelly2 sent us all the ingredients, we just had to sort it out and make a card or two.  I made one so far.
The designer paper she sent is the Painted Autumn collection from Stampin Up.  The little leaves are from Craft Smart (Michaels) and the broomstick is from Studio G. I layered everything on Chocolate Chip from SU. The card base is SU  I colored everything in with my Copic Markers. I have a list somewhere. :)  It was a fun kit to play with.  Thanks Kelly2.

IAS #16 Lace and/or Pearl

Hi my friends. Happy Sunday! What can I say? The City is finally starting to clean up although there are still areas that have flooding and people cannot get back into their homes yet. For many life is starting to get back to a normal routine. I went back to work on Thursday although not everyone was back. On Friday they brought pizza and salad in for us for lunch. That was really very nice. I don't indulge in pizza very often, but I did on Friday. It was yummy. It's nice that we can have our crafting to bring some light and smiles into our lives. It's especially important at times like these. I'm so happy to participate in International Art & Soul.

The day before Hurricane Harvey hit I was taking classes at a CKC Convention in The Woodlands which is about 45 minutes North of H Town. I was disappointed that some of the vendors pulled out and left, but so thankful that some of them stayed through Friday and showed us some exciting creative projects. These cards were presented by Susan from Clear Scraps. She and her husband are the owners and they manufacture all of the products that are sold in their store. This was the first of 3 classes that I signed up for. They are acrylic cards.

Here is a photo where you can see the acrylic layer on top which has been distressed with white stazon ink.

Here is our Dandilion card. I didn't put a sentiment on it yet. I'll decide that when I decide who I want to send it to.
 And the inside.

Here is card No. 3.
And the inside.

Materials Used:
  • Kraft cardstock
  • Ink - White Staz-On; Black Staz-On
  • Stamp - Stampendous Floral
  • Zig Painty Pens - White, Yellow, Green, Black
  • Clear Scraps Acrylic
  • Lace, ribbon, doily, chipboard words, flower, pattern paper all provided
International Art & Soul is always a Just For Fun challenge.  Our theme this fortnight is to use Lace and/or Pearls.  I hope you will come join in the fun. You could be the winner or one of the Top 3 and receive a lovely icon for your blog.

Prairie Flower - CYS

Hi my friends. Well, Harvey has finally moved on away from H Town. Sadly, it has moved over to Port Arthur which is substantially underwater and Beaumont which is getting hammered. They had to evacuate 250 residents of a nursing home this morning and finally tonight got the last 12 patients onto a huge helicopter and they brought them back over this way to Conroe. H Town is not out of the woods yet, there is still a lot of high water in places including in our downtown area. And the cleanup starts.

With all the time off from work (back to work tomorrow), I had time to play with my stamping toys.  This card was for the August Challenge Your Stash challenge on Splitcoaststampers. Our hostess was Darlene and she wanted us to create our own background and not use any designer paper. Yikes!

Bringing some light and sunshine I made this pretty card with a lovely bunch of Prairie Flowers.
Materials Used:
  • Image - Power Poppy - Prairie Flowers
  • Sentiment - Power Poppy - Prairie Flowers
  • Cardstock - Stampin Up - Pink Pirouette; Papertrey Ink -
  • Ink - Memento - Tuxedo Black
  • Accessories - Nestabilities; SU scalloped punch; Cuttlebug flourish embossing folder.
  • Copic Markers - (coming)
That's it for this time. Hope you all are safe and dry.

Stamplistic Book Box CKC 2017

Hi friends.  We are still dealing with the remnants of Hurricane Harvey. Thankfully it has stayed dry in my house although we have had a ton of rain and it continues to come down, but not the torrential rains we saw yesterday. My office is closed today and at least tomorrow. Right now it's not possible to get to my office because of the high water around it.

This past weekend was a mix of fun and sorrow. Creative Keepsakes Convention came to my town and for the first time ever I decided to attend. It was being held up in The Woodlands which is pretty far North of where I live. There were a couple of workshops Thursday night and then workshops were scheduled for all day Friday and Saturday. Hurricane Harvey was predicted to make landfall Friday night down around the Corpus Christi area which is 4 hours South of the City of Houston. Shouldn't have been that bad for us.

I went to the workshop Thursday night that I was signed up for. It was put on by Stamplistic. So thankful for them for coming and staying. There were a few vendors who actually got to the venue and then turned around Thursday night and left.  Thought they would stay at least through Saturday. One of the vendors who left Thursday night after getting to the venue was Heartfelt Creations. I was really sad and disappointed since they were one of the main reasons that I decided to go to the CKC this year. I had purchased a lot of their products and wanted to take some classes to learn how to use their products.  Such is life.

So, getting to Stamplistic. Jennifer was FABULOUS. I can't say enough good things about her. She was patient, generous, and just a fun person to be with and learn from. I took this class to make this Book Box (by Kaisercraft) and I mean "make" it. It was a kit and it came in pieces. There were 4 of us in the class and we had to build the box piece by piece, painting, gluing, applying pieces of Kaisercraft scrapbooking paper. The class started at 3 PM and we were there until 9 PM. Some were there after that. I finished up the boxes yesterday and today while I've been home because of Harvey.
This is the front of the box. Decided I liked it the way it was and didn't want to add any more embellishments to it.

Materials:
  •  Designer Paper - Ubed collection -  https://www.kaisercraft.com.au/newsite/collections.php?col=217
This is the inside. Each of those little boxes had to be constructed and then covered. I used a 7/8" inch punch to punch out the half circles.
Materials used:
  • Stamplistic - Ochre Neopague Paint. http://www.stamplistic.com/product.php?id_product=3445

You can see here the top, spine, and back, all of which are covered with designer paper.  What a fun time. Again, Jennifer from Stamplistic was so great. I got a photo with her but promised I wouldn't put it on FB, and I guess that also means not on my blog. I enjoyed spending some of my refunded $$ at the Stamplistic shop. I'll have another post soon of the Make 'n Take I did there.

Creative Card Chicks - Fairy Nice

Hi my friends. If you're in and around the Texas area, I hope that you are NOT in the flooded areas like I am. Hurricane Harvey came ashore to the West of us and is dumping billions (yes, BILLIONS) of gallons of rain on us. Luckily, my house doesn't flood, but my street does, so there is no way to get out of the neighborhood. The water is about 5 feet up into the driveway. Schools closed for days. No telling when this will end. More rain probably later today and overnight.

That being said. I did have time to make a card this weekend for Creative Card Chicks SCS challenge.  This month, Suzy was our hostess and sent the card kit to make our card. This was supposed to be posted Aug. 21-23, but I was still busy with my last report for my Genealogy course I was taking and then I went to the CKC Convention that was being held in The Woodlands here in Houston. Unfortunately, some vendors pulled out on Friday and they closed the Convention for Saturday. I did get to go Thursday night and most of the day Saturday.

Here is my card for CCC August.
  • Image - Stampin Up - Fairy Nice

Boxes and Bags - IAS #14

Good morning my friends.  I hope that you are having a great weekend. It's been busy here for me and I wasn't sure I was going to get to play in this project, but I really wanted to make this box. First, I got my DNA project finished and submitted on Friday. Wow! That was tough even with an open book. Now to wait for my grade. We are on to identifying people in photographs; very interesting. We are winding down the course - only 3 weeks left to go.

On to my project. Our theme at International Art & Soul this fortnight is Boxes and Bags. Here is the finished box.

Another view from the front.
And a view from the top.

The straight part of the ribbon got a bit cattiwampsus when I was photographing it. Here is a link to the template for creating this. It's from Graphic45. I love their papers and they have so many great ideas for inspiration.

The finished size is 4 x 4 x 5. I added a piece of cardstock to the top of the 4 x 4 box to make it taller and to accommodate the lid. You'll see as you look at the directions. Also, they say to cut the lid 5 x 5, but it has to be 6 x 6 to give you the 1" overlap and to fit the box. My cardstock for the base was from my stash. I have no idea where I got it. The designer paper is from the Autumn Spice collection from LilyBeeDesign. I believe that they no long are in business. I couldn't find them anywhere on the internet.

The sparkley trim is by Recollections and the brad on top is from my stash. No coloring.

I hope you'll come take the time to play along with us. I'd love to see the different types of boxes and bags. I"m always looking for new things. You could be our overall winner or one of the Top 3! See the link at the top. Good luck.

Bringing in the Tree - July CCC

Good morning my friends and Happy Sunday.

It was so good to get back in my stamp room to be somewhat creative. My Genealogy class has been keeping me pretty busy. After our Unit on Documentation (writing citations) finished up (with a B-), we moved on to Forensic Genealogy. So interesting. This is all about finding people and includes DNA Analysis. I approach it with a bit of trepidation. Hopefully my lame brain will be able to get around it and I'll do well in this one.

But on to the card I have for you today. This is for the Monthly Challenge of the Creative Card Chicks on Splitcoaststampers. Our kit came from Roxie (morgainegeiser). She sent along a couple images, some papers and some embellishments.

The elements I used from the kit were the image from Stampin Bella, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The designer paper is from Bo Bunny - Sleigh Ride. The sparkley snowflake and twine are from Stampin Up. I added some bling from my stash to the tree and also created snow with my liquid applique. I used Stampin Up Navy cardstock and a gray metallic gel pen. I put the sentiment on the inside, but didn't photograph it.

Copic Markers - B00, B01, B02, B60; BG90, BG93; C3, C5, C7; E23, E25, E27; E50, E51, E53; G21, G24, G46; R00.

That's it for today. It was a fun kit. There is another image from the kit that I've got colored up and hope to get it made into a card soon. Glad to be getting started on my Christmas cards.

Beach Babes - CCC June

Hi friends.  Happy Wednesday night. It's been kind of a rough week, a bit of illness, but hopefully it's past. Getting kind of tired of that.

My Genealogy class is going well. Even with all I think I know, there is so much more to learn about research. About half way through the course. I don't know how people work and take a full load of college classes.

Luckily, I had a day between Modules to play a bit in my stamp room. It was feeling quite neglected. This is one of the cards I was able to put together for the Splitcoaststampers site - Creative Card Chicks. Each month one of the members sends us a kit with images, papers, and fun embellishments to use to create a card to two. This month is was Debby's turn (littledeb on SCS). She's planning a holiday soon and will be a beach babe.  I am really a little late getting this posted. I really liked the bright colors of the designer paper, so I brought that into the image. I even have the perfect person to give this to.

Materials Used:
  • Image - unknown
  • Sentiment - Deadbeat Designs
  • Cardstock - Stampin Up Tempting Turquoise; Xpress It Blending Card
  • Designer Paper - Debby's stash
  • Accessories - K&Co., flip flops; Paper Studio - Enameled Dots
  • Copic Markers: BG0000, BG000, BG01, BG02; C3; E21, E23; E30, E31; E40; E50, E51, E53; G0000, G12, G21; R81, R83; Y11, Y15, Y18; YR01, YR01, YR68
That's it. Thanks Debby for a fun kit. Hope you have a great time on your Vacay~

Noel - IAS #11

Hello my friends and Happy Sunday.  I've had a busy few weeks with class projects that needed to be done. Wow!  I don't know how people do this all the time - work and go to school and take more than 1 class. This last project that was due today was a real doozer - a scavenger hunt on the Internet. We were given 10 different scenarios to look for and find answers to the questions. It was tough. Luckily I get points for my research even if I don't find the answer, but I managed to get 7 out of 10. We'll see what I end up with as a final score. So far I've been doing pretty well with an average of about 90. Anyway it doesn't leave a whole lot of time for crafting, but I managed to sneak in a little time for this one.

Yes, time for another project for International Art & Soul. The theme for this fortnight is Flowers. My favorite thing. I love flowers whether there are an image or added embellishments. I've got to start thinking about Christmas so went with a Winter theme for this one. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do with it so I left off a sentiment and will add that later.

Materials Used:
  • Image - Lili of the Valley - Noel
  • Cardstock - Stampin Up Silver Metallic; Xpress It Blending Card; Shimmery White
  • Designer Paper - Bo Bunny - Attitude
  • Accessories - Flowers and Lace from Wild Orchid Crafts and Recollections; Die - Memory Box, Frosty Border; Silver Gel Pen
  • Copic Markers - BG0000; BG000; BG10; E50, E51; G34, G28, G43; R35, R37; V0000, V01, V12; Y11, Y23, Y26
That was pretty easy. Love the colors on this one.  I hope you'll hop on over and play along with us this time. Can't wait to see what you do with flowers. You could win one of our Prize Badges or be picked as one of the Top 3.
