Summer Fun - Creatalicious No. 146

Hello my friends.. With all that has been going on at my house, I was still able to get to my craft room and do some crafting.

Today I'm showcasing a card that I made for Creatalicious Challgenge.  Our theme for this challenge is Anything Goes + Optional use Pastels. No stress if you'd rather not use pastels. Just come along and have fun.  I enjoyed making this card. I wanted to do kind of a scene card so I used some extra stamped images to create one. The top photo looks a little off because it's bent in the middle. I couldn't get it to lay flat again. That's a fold so when it's open, it looks like the bottom photo.  Lighting is also not so great.

Ups and Downs Week

This has sure been a week of highs and lows and I hope not to have to deal with these issues again for a long time.

 If you can't tell from the name of my blog, I am a Cat Person. I have a few that live inside my house and then some that live outside. I have a large patio on the back of my house which is where the outside kitties get fed every day, twice a day. They don't always stay in the yard though. They go off to parts unknown when they are not eating especially when the weather is bad. They are all strays so I have no idea if they have other family in the neighborhood or not, but I've still taken it upon myself to have the females spayed so we don't get anymore kitties in the neighborhood. Four of my inside kitties are those that were born in the back yard over the years.

The low point came first thing Monday morning. I had already put food out for the kitties on the patio, but only three had shown up. No. 4 Doris was missing. That happens a lot so I didn't think anything about it. Right before I was leaving for work, I remembered that I had not put seed out for the birds, so I went outside to do that. When I went out I noticed Doris jumping over the back fence. But she didn't come up to the patio to get breakfast. She just laid down by the side fence and cried. I walked over to where she was to get a good look at her. She was crying and panting and didn't seem to be able to stand up on her own. Of course, I went and got a carrier and got her in it with no problem and immediately called the vet's office to take her in for an exam. We got there about a half hour later. She was in a lot of distress with her breathing so the vet put her in an incubator to give her oxygen. Later after she was a little stronger they were able to take x-rays which showed she had a huge hernia - her diaphram had been damaged and her stomach was pushed up into her chest making it difficult to breathe. Later we noticed that she also had damage to one of her back legs. There was no doubt that she had been hit by a car. I am amazed that she was able to make it back into my yard after going through this traumatic experience. I had to make the very hard decision to let her go. She was a very sweet and friendly little girl, and I miss her every day.

It is very good when the lows are offset by highs. One of my other outside kitties - Glynda has been living in the house mostly in a crate for the last four weeks. I first noticed outside that she was a bit lethargic and didn't seem to be eating very much if at all. I decided that it was time for a trip to the vet. I love my vets. It's a cat clinic, no dogs allowed. The vet that saw Glynda diagnosed her at first with a UTI and treated  her for that. They were going to keep her overnight because I was having her groomed also. She's a long-haired cat and had not been grooming  herself very well, so she was dirty and had mats that she wouldn't let me cut off. Better to let the professionals handle that. They gave her a lion cut, and she looks pretty cute, but I'll be glad when the rest of her hair grows back in. I hope it does before the cold weather gets here. While she was there they noticed that she had some bleeding in her urine and did an ultrasound on her bladder and found that she had two small stones in her bladder that were the cause of her problems. This meant she had to be on a special diet to dissolve the stones and also that she would have to be inside confined to a crate where she could be fed her diet.  That has caused a little bit of upset with the other kitties who live in the house, but they are coping. Two weeks turned into four, but yesterday she was given a clean bill of health! The stones are gone and she will be able to go back outside to her friends and family. She and the other outside cats will now have to also be on a maintenance diet to keep this from happening to her again or any of the others. I decided to keep her in the house until Saturday when I'll have three days to monitor how she does back outside.

This is Glynda before her health issues. Even though I lost one of my kitties this week, I was able to save this other one, so that's pretty good.

Serenity Fairy Kisses - Creatalicious #146

Good morning friends. Wow! What happened to July? I can't believe it's already August. The good thing is that school is over for the semester and I came out with an overall A! Yippee!

We have had some issues here with the kitties. My oldest at 18, Paisley, was diagnosed with pancreatitis and will be on medication for the rest of her life. She's doing well. You would never know that she was sick and she's doing better at taking her pill. Unfortunately, it's not one of those that I can mix in her food.

Next, I noticed that one of my outside kitties seemed a bit puny and got her to the vet. At first she thought it was a UTI, but after a dose of antibiotics, we found that she has two small stones in her bladder which meant additional medication and special food. She is now crated in the house so that she can eat her special food for two weeks. This has caused a little disruption to the other kitties, but I hope in a few days they will be used to her. Not sure she's going to be used to being in a crate though. It is not her happy place.

So much for all that. Time to get down to business with my card for the Creatalicious challenge.
Our theme is Anything Goes with an optional Under the Sea or Fairytales. As you can see, I chose Fairytales. I am going to be looking for a new camera. The colors on mine are not coming out like they should even with my photo editing.

Number 1 - Creatalicious No. 142

Okay, this is my last post for the day. I am just a few days late with my post.  Just sitting here watching fireworks on the TV. We had a terrible rain storm today and the big firework display here in H Town was cancelled. I wouldn't have gone, but a lot of people do. I'm watching Macy's right now, but will watch A Capital Fourth later.

This card is for the Creatalicious Challenge.  The theme for this challenge is Anything Goes with the optional For A Hero! The theme is optional so you can still join the fun and not use the theme.

Last year we had some great heroes in our town - the Houston Astros! Our baseball team won the World Series. I colored this little guy with the Astros colors in honor of them. We're hoping that they can do a back to back and win again this year.

I think it may be time to look into getting a new camera. This one is not doing justice to the colors.

I Forgot!

Hello again. Here is my blog post number two for today. Another group I belong to on Splitcoast Stampers (SCS) is the Challenge Your Stash group. In this group the hostess of the month picks a theme for us and we each make a card using that theme. The fun part is that we are only allowed to use items we already have in our stash. No new items are supposed to be used.

Our hostess for June was Lola (Raevon). Her theme for us was to use either an elephant or a flamingo. I had a hard time trying to decide which to use since I had images of both of them. I finally decided on this cute elephant image from Mo Manning called I Forgot.

I'm Stuck on You!

Hello friends! Yes, I'm still here. It's been such a long time that I almost forget how to create a blog post. First, Happy 4th of July! I hope you are enjoying your day. It was nice having the day off even though I spent most of it doing homework. I'm counting down the weeks though - only three more to go before this semester is over!

I've tried to squeeze in a little crafting here and there between class work. So I have three cards to get put on my blog. This is number one. I should have blogged it back on June 21, but I was too busy with school to get it on here even though I had it done. This one was for Creative Card Chicks, a stamping swap group on Splitcoast Stampers. Each month we have a different hostess who puts a kit together and sends it out to all the rest of the group. We each then make at least one card to share with the group. It's always fun to see what everyone creates. They are all different and always amazing. The month of June was Debby's turn to be hostess. She sent us all these cute succulent images, some great designer paper to go along with it and some fun embellishments.

The image is from Woodware and the paper from Hobby Lobby. The sentiment is from Deadbeat Designs. I had to figure a way to use the tag and I like how this turned out.

There was so much more to the kit. Maybe I'll have time one day to do some more crafting with the supplies. I usually write down what Copics I used, but sorry, I didn't do these. I think they were part of the RV and YG families.

My Baby Boy - Creatalicious #140

Good morning and Happy June!  I don't know about you, but it really feels like Summer here. The temps are already in the upper 90's feels like over 100! Needless to say, I don't spend a lot of time noutside. LOL! Good old air conditioning.

I'm a little late getting my card posted, but this has been another busy school week with lots to get done. I was lucky I was able to get my card made for the challenge. Since the image is called My Baby Boy, I for sure went with a blue theme. We have a photo inspiration them this time. Not only did I use the blue, but also used a flower background.
