Happy Birthday Explosion - IAS No. 32

Hi all! Happy Sunday. It's all good here. Pain from my wasp sting is all gone and you would never know to look at me.

I have spent a lot of time today working on my lessons for the week. Both classes require a lot of reading and writing, which is not my thing. I've never been crazy about any kind of writing. I'd much rather be creating and making pretty things. One of the questions for the discussion board this week is "To what extent is writing a natural talent and to what extent is it a skill developed through hard work?" I know what my answer is. :)

Well, on to the business at hand and my real passion - card making! The challenge for this fortnight over at International Art & Soul was to make an Interactive Card. I was kind of late getting mine done because of school, but I had seen this tutorial and I thought it would be fun. This is my second attempt. I messed up following the directions on the first one, but I like the way this one turned out.

This didn't take much to put it together, just pay attention to how you are to score it and do the folding.
Materials Used:
  • Stamps - Stampin Up Happiest Birthday Wishes; Age Awareness; Balloon Adventures
  • Ink - Tangerine Tango, Baked Brown Sugar, Bermuda Bay
  • Cardstock - Stampin Up Whisper White, Tangerine Tango
  • Designer Paper - Stampin Up Tasty Treats
No copics, no coloring.

I hope you'll come and join in the fun. I'd love to see what you create. You could be the winner or picked as one of the Top 3 and receive one of these lovely badges for your blog.

April Flowers from my Stash

Hi friends!  I hope you are having a great weekend. Mine was pretty productive with only one hitch. I was out working in the back yard cleaning out passionflower vine that is growing into my Knockout roses. I happened to see a small wasp nest up in the corner of the door entry so I got a long stick to knock it down. I didn't see any of the mud daubers in there, but it turned out that there were a few and one of them nailed me on the bridge of my nose! I was able to brush it away quickly as soon as I felt the sting and get some ice on it so it didn't swell up and got rid of the sting quickly. After I took care of my nose, I got the wasp spray out and able to hit three of the mud daubers.

Even though I get started back in school this week, I had some time today to work on some cards. This one is made from a kit that I got from Heartfelt Creations last August after being at the Creative Keepsake Convention the weekend Hurricane Harvey hit Texas. I went to CKC so I could take the Heartfelt Creations classes to learn how to make these paper flowers. I love the cards that they make from their products. Unfortunately, they left the convention early because of the hurricane, so I've been watching videos to learn how to make these flowers.

This card was made for the Monthly Challenge on the Challenge Your Stash group on Splitcoast Stampers. Sue (stampinspooky) was our hostess for the month of April, and her theme for us was to use Flowers or Showers. I love using flowers on my cards, so I chose to make mine Flowers.

I used a pale yellow ink on the flowers and pink on the small flowers.  It is so much prettier in real life.

Blossom April Monthly Challenge

Hi my friends and Happy Sunday!

I hope that you're enjoying your day. Has Spring arrived yet? It came here and then departed. Our temps have been on the cooler side for us. I know some of you are thinking - Cool??  It's downright cold where I am!!  LOL! I'm sure. There  has been some wonky weather of late, but hopefully that will pass over soon and we'll get to the good stuff. I do have plants growing and flowers blooming, but so far not a butterfly in sight. I'm ready for them though with about 8 milkweed plants that are looking very appetizing - to a Monarch butterfly.

I finally have a card to share with you after finishing up my second semester of school. My third and last of this series of classes starts tomorrow (Creative Writing & English) and goes to the middle of July.  Maybe be the time it's done, I'll learn to like writing.

My card today is done for our Monthly Challenge group on Splitcoast Stampers - Creative Card Chicks. Each month one of the members sends out a kit to all the other members and we each get to make at least one card from the kit and share it with the rest of the group. This month it was Jeanette's turn to be hostess (Forest Ranger on SCS). She sent us this adorable image and sentiment. I just loved it even though I'm cat person.
The image is Blossom from Your Next Stamp. All the embellishments, papers (American Crafts), and ribbon came from the kit. I used Stampin Up Blushing Bride cardstock to mat everything and some gold Liquid Pearls to accent the flowers.

Copic Markers I used: B0000, B000, B00; E000, E00, E21, E23; G21, G24; R81, R83, R85; Y18

It really did remind me of Spring and brought some freshness and peace into a rather hectic time of my life.
