Hello again my friends. It's Wednesday, "Hump Day" as we call it in the working world. The week is half over and we're on the down side to the weekend! Today also happens to be a holiday for my boss, so he will be out of the office today. Yippee! I don't want him to hear me say that, so I'm whispering. ;) Time for another challenge from Perfect Sentiment. This weeks challenge is to create a card with a Christmas sentiment (on the front of your card) and the twist is to use something vintage on your card - image, sentiment, paper, embellishment, or whatever you have in your stash.
Our lovely sponsor this week is Patti's Creations and the prize for one lucky winner will be 1 free digi of their choice.
I found my "free" digital image at Digital Two for Tuesday blog. Cora owns this blog and she somehow scours very old books and magazines where the copyrights have either expired or they didn't have one in the first place and then she digitizes the pictures in the books to make them into digital stamps. The one I used is from the Little Folks Paint Book. Cora says, "There is no copyright but I think it is from the late 30's." And she does all this for FREE! She doesn't charge for any of these image. Can't beat that with a stick!
I created this card some time ago and did no write down any of the details for making it. I do know that the c/s that I used is Stampin Up Brilliant Blue. This has become one of my all time favorites colors. The image was printed on Xpress It Blending Card and distressed around the edges before matting it on SU Brilliant Blue. The designer paper is from my stash and the sentiment is a piece I cut from another piece of d/p and mounted on a strip of SU Whisper White. There is some sparkles on the d/p. It doesn't show up so well. I tied the ribbon around the piece of dp and then layered a doily over it and then added the image layer. The corner piece is from Wild Orchid Crafts and the snowflake was from my stash of stuff. I did use some Opaque White for the snow to give it some texture. Sorry I can't tell you which markers I used, but play around with yours until you get it to look the way you want it to.
How, how about a look at the creations from the rest of the DT. You can find links to their blogs over on the left side of my blog. They have really done a fabulous job this week (as usual). Don't forget to make a card of your own and link it up to Mr. Linky on the PSC blog. You maybe be the big prize winner or you could be chosen as one of the Perfect 3 this week.
I am submitting this card for the following challenges:
