No. 1 Dad

The last day of May and June is right next door.  With June comes the day when we honor our Dad's.  He does so much for us. Now is our time to give him a special day. Start out with a special hand made card to show him how much he means to you.

This card was created for Bowdabra.  If you don't know about Bowdabra, here is a picture of the Mini Bowdabra Hair Bow Tool and Ruler which I used to create the bow attached to my card.

You can check out my tutorial on how to make this bow or other bows over on the Bowdabra Blog webpage - HERE.

The layout is from one of Colleen Schaan's cards featured in the Copic Coloring Guide, Level 2: Nature book that you can purchase from Annie's Attic.  The card is called "Miss You" and is used with permission of the artist.  Thanks Colleen for your inspiration.

Materials Used:
  • Image - Lili of the Valley - Dad's the Word
  • Cardstock - Papertrey Ink - Smokey Shadow; Xpress It Blending Card; Stampin Up Whisper White
  • Designer Paper - Echo Park - Times & Seasons.  I cut the "No 1" from a sheet of this paper and adhered it to the SU Whisper White which was punched out with a 1 1/4" round punch and mounted on a 1 1/2" PTI Smokey Shadow circle.
  • Ribbon - from my stash
  • I used my sewing machine to sew around the edges of the DP layers and used my paper piercer to make the holes around the edge of the image.
  • Copics used:  Bear: E30, E31, E33, E35, E37, E41; Stool: E02, E23; Tie: R89, W8; Box: E04, E21; Tools: C3, C4, E25; Letters:  D - YG91, YG93; A - E42, E43; D - BG23, YG63
I am submitting this to the following challenges:

Crafts and Me - Ribbon
Divas by Design - Anything Goes
Just Keep On Creating - Anything Goes
Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge - Anything Goes
Scrapbook Sisters - Anything Goes
Stampin' Royalty - Masculine

Hi There! PSC34

Happy Wednesday!  It's that time again; time for another Perfect Sentiment Challenge.   This week the challenge is Anything Goes (with a sentiment on the front, please)!!!!!!  Don't we just love those challenges where we can let our creativity just flow.

Create anything you like as long as it has a sentiment on the front...card, tags, ATC's, altered art.  Twist:  If you create a scrapbook page that clearly has a stamped sentiment, scripture, or quote on it, you may enter it. It must be stamped, it cannot be digital and the Title of your scrapbook page does not count.

I stuck with a card for  my creation and used My Favorite Things Sketch No. 67 for my layout.

The image is from our sponsor this week - Limited Runs.   One lucky winner will receive 3 digi images from their shop.

My Card Recipe:
  • Cardstock for base, mats, and Martha Stewart double edge punch - Stampin Up - Bashful Blue
  • Image printed on Xpress It Blending Card
  • Sentiment - Hero Arts - Thinking of You stamped with SU Bashful Blue ink on SU Whisper White c/s  and matted on SU Bashful Blue - edge cut with a 1" square punch
  • Designer Paper - Basic Gray - Cupcake
  • Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts
  •  Copic markers:  Skin - E000, E00, E04, E11, BV00; Shirt - B00, B12, B14, B16; Skirt - YR15, RY21, YR24; Hair - E31, E35, E37; Flower - Y02, Y18, Y38, YG05, YG09; Shadows - C1; B0000
Don't forget to check out the rest of the Design Team and see what they have come up with this week.

Maggie - You are here.

Once you've checked out the Design team, get yourself over to your stamping space and put a card together yourself and then go over to the Perfect Sentiment blog and link it up.  You could be the lucky winner this week, or you might get picked as one of the Perfect 3.  Have fun!

I am submitting this card for the following challenges:

Celebrate the Occasion - Anything Goes
Crafty Sentiments Designs - Anything Goes
My Time To Craft - Two of Anything
Oldie But A Goodie - Use something at least 6 months old - my designer paper I've had for at least a year.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment.  I do appreciate your time.  Hope you have a fabulous week!

Maggie's Cat House

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend.  Mine was low-keyed.  I did get out to a baby shower on Saturday for the daughter of a good friend.  I didn't have any plans yesterday so I thought I'd take advantage of the day off from work and clean up my stamping space.  My room is one of the old bedrooms that I didn't have any use for.   These are just 2 shots of my room.  This one from the doorway is of my stamp tables.  I usually work with stuff piled all around me so I can just grab it.  You can see in the background that there are books on those shelves over to the right.
These are my stamp drawers where I keep all my stamps, most of which are from Stampin Up, but there are many others that are being added.

To the left of the draws is a unit that has 3 pull out drawers that holds some of my 12 x 12 dp, some grunge chipboard, and other stuff.

Now on to the clean up.  Here are my stamping tables all cleaned up.  The cabinets below the tables hold hanging file folders with my 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock.  The bottom drawer to the far right also has a lot of my magazines and all my Copic magazines and class books from my 2 classes.

Here is a close up of my stamp pad storage - holds all my Stampin Up stamp pads, markers, and some of the reinkers.  The unit on the left doesn't have room for all the reinkers, so they are all in a box on one of the shelves.

Above are my stamp drawers all cleaned up and organized.  They are all marked as to what is inside them - flower stamps, nature, backgrounds, birthday, Christmas, etc.  Makes it a little easier to find something that I'm looking for.

Here is that shelf unit.  I removed most of the books from it, put a few of my trinkets that I wanted to keep out to show and opened up the bottom shelf to put some of my boxes of ribbons - have you noticed how many boxes of ribbons that I have????????   Can I just say, I'm addicted to ribbons.
Up close photo of some of my ribbon boxes.  Each one is organized by colors.

This is another shelf unit that holds more ribbon, boxes of embellishments, plastic sleeves with my Stampin Up designer paper which is sorted alphabetically and also some plastic sleeves for my 12 x 12 cardstock.  On the bottom shelf are large binders with pages that hold some of the cards that I've received over the years that I don't want to part with.
This is up close of the boxes of embellishments and some other supplies.

This is upclose of the dp, cardstock, and binders.

One day when I was out shopping I found this over the door shoe holder with double pockets.  I thought it would be a great addition to my stamp room to hold all my large punches.
I have added to this by buying some Cricut cartridges to use instead of punches.  I have no room in my stamp room for my Cricut or Cuttlebug, so I keep them out on the kitchen counter.

This photo is the inside of the closet where I put shelves to hold more supplies.  Most of the boxes in here hold flowers all sorted by colors.  Did I tell you that I'm also addicted to Flowers??  I love using flowers on my cards and haven't mastered the art of making my own yet, but I keep practicing.
Almost done.  These last photos show the other shelf unit that holds bottles of Prima flowers and just a lot of other supplies.  To the right is my new Air Compressor which I have not had time to get out of the box.  On the floor to the left are some of my Christmas stamps.  I make Christmas cards throughout the year, so they are kept pretty much close at hand.  I do have some large 2" plastic paper keepers that hold all my Christmas designer papers.
This is the last photo.  Shows some of my smaller supply drawers that hold labels, brushes, gel pens, my distress ink pads, etc.

It's not exactly the way I would do it if I were starting over, but I used what I had or what was available that would fit the room.  No matter, I love being in here and creating cards or other altered items as gifts for my friends.  Hope you enjoyed seeing what Maggie's Cat House looks like.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous day.  If you're ever in my area, please stop by.
Have a fabulous week.

Chocolate and Strawberries

Happy Sunday my friends.  I hope you are all enjoying the long Memorial Day weekend.  It's been kind of relaxing for me today.  So much so that I was able to get a couple cards done, one of which is for the Monday Greeting Card Challenge over at The Outlawz.  The theme there is Strawberries.  This is the only stamp I had that would fit the challenge and since I'm a chocolaholic, it was perfect.

Can you believe I made a card and did NOT use even one Copic marker on it.  Oh well, there will be more of those coming up soon.  LOL!

For this one it's mostly Stampin Up, in fact it's all Stampin Up except that little piece of dp that is under the strawberries and sentiment layer.  The base is SU Real Read as well as the mat under the flowery dp.  The images and sentiment are done using SU Whisper White.  The images are colored using SU markers direct to the stamp and then stamped.  I didn't like the look of the images.  Not sure why they came out kind of fuzzy, but I used the markers and colored in the images once they were stamped.  The sentiment is stamped using SU Chocolate Chip.  The dp which is on top of the base is from SU Berry Blossom.  I used the Martha Stewart Swirling Lace edge punch along the bottom edge of the Real Red layer.  To finish it off, I put a red brad up in each corner of the card.

That's it. Pretty simple and easy.  Enjoy your holiday tomorrow.

I am submitting this card to:
The Outlawz Greeting Card Challenge - Strawberries
Great Impressions Challenge #3 - Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment.  I do appreciate them.  See you soon.

Celebrate You

Happy Friday!  Yeah!  Looking forward to the three-day weekend.  Got plans?

I haven't played with May Favorite Things for awhile, but this week, it all came together.  I had a great image drawn by Anne Fenton over at The Outlawz Freebies Challenge and it was perfect for the MFTWSC challenge this week.
  Here's my card.

The image is from The Outlawz which I printed out on XPress It Blending Card, colored up with my Copic markers and distressed around the edges with Stampin Up Night of Navy.  The card base is Gina K Designs 120# white.  I love this for bases.  The sentiment is Stampin Up - A Little Birthday Cheer inked in SU Night of Navy on a scrap of SU Night of Navy.  The designer paper is from Authentique - Genuine collection pack.  I added a little piece of SU Crushed Curry Polka Dot Grosgrain ribbon behind the image layer.  The flowers are from Martha Stewart Flower stickers and the leaves are punched out of SU Night of Navy cardstock using the MS leaf branch punch.

The Copics I used for the image were Skin:  E50, E11, E04, R81 for her lips; Hair: E31, E35, E37; Shorts & Shoes: B23, B24, B26; Shirt: Y13, Y15, Y18, Y21; Outline/shadow C0, C2.  I also used the Spica Gel pen - Buttermilk for her bracelets.

This is the first card I've made since taking the Intermediate Copics class last weekend.  What do you think?

I'm submitting this to the following challenges:

The Outlawz - Creative Freebies
My Favorite Things - Wednesday Sketch Challenge
AUD Sentiments - Any Sentiment
Moving Along with the Times - Celebration, Anything but a Birthday

That's it for this time.  Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comments.  I really appreciate all of them.

PSC33 - A Special Man

Well, second post for today, but this one has no card attached.  It is Wednesday and that means that it is time for another Perfect Sentiment challenge.  As you can see from my post the other day, I was in Dallas this past weekend taking the Copic Intermediate Certification class.  I had a fabulous time!  But that didn't leave any time to create a card for this week, but I'd still like to tell you about the challenge.

Challenge: create a card with a sentiment for a special man. Your sentiment must be on the front of the card
Twist: no patterned paper is allowed on your card.

Sponsor: Pattie's Creations
Prize:  one digi

One lucky person drawn randomly will win one digital image from Pattie's Creations.  Don't forget to check out the rest of the Design Team and see what they have come up with this week.

Maggie - You are here.
May Guest Designers

Once you've checked out the Design team, get yourself over to your stamping space and put a card together yourself and then go over to the Perfect Sentiment blog and link it up.  You could be the lucky winner this week, or you might get picked as one of the Perfect 3.  Have fun!

Late Mother's Day

Happy Wednesday!  I made these two card boxes a few weeks ago to give one to each of my daughters for Mother's Day.  Don't worry, they were very sweet and generous and remembered their mom with gifts.

Well, over on the Stamp Addicts blog, one of our challenges was to make a "book card."
This was not what I started out to make, but once I saw this beautiful piece of dp from Basic Gray Sugared collection, I knew that I had to use it.  I just cut it so I'd get this part of the paper for the cover.

Here is the inside --
More papers of dp from the Sugared collection, some lace and pearls.
I added the sentiment Happy Mother's Day using SU Rose Romance ink, some flowers, and some leaves.  It made the perfect box to include a little GC inside to one of her favorite restaurants.

Here is the second one.  I did actually start making this one first.

The image here is a Lili of the Valley stamp called Bunches of Love, which I colored with my Copic Markers - B0000, E30, E51, R81, R83, RV10, RV11, RV13, YG00, YG11, YG21, and YG23.
I matted it on a piece of SU Pretty in Pink and then edged it with some gathered lace from my stash.

Here is the inside
I think the DP I used on this one was SU Paisley and Petals.  It's basically made on the same order as the other one.  I also included a GC in this one to my other daughter.

Here's a close up.

I guess that I didn't take a photo that shows the side of the book card so you can see how it looks like a book.  Here is a link to the tutorial I used to make these. http://grammashouseofcards.blogspot.com/p/tutorials.html

I also used some 1" organza white ribbon as the tie to close the books.

Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate your comments.  Have a fabulous day!

TPT199 - Happy Birthday Kitty

Happy Tuesday.  I haven't been able to play along with Teapot Tuesday Destination Station for awhile, but finally had some time.  This week the card is going to a young girl named Rebekah.  She missed her 12th birthday party because her mom was in the hospital with a broken hip as a result of Lupus and RA.  So cards this week are not going to her mother, but to Rebekah to help make up for her missed party.  Her mom apologized to her for ruining all their plans to spend time together and Rebekah's reply was “Momma, you said we were going to spend time together this week. We ARE spending time together, it's all good!”

 Materials Used:
  • Image - I Baked a Cake - Lili of the Valley, stamped with Tuxedo Memento Black ink on Xpress It Blending Card
  • Sentiment - Stampin Up - Year Round Cheer (retired) stamped with SU Ruby Red ink on SU Whisper White, punched out and layered on a circle of SU Ruby Red cardstock
  • Cardstock - Stampin Up YoYo Yellow and Ruby Red.
  • Designer Paper - Basic Gray - Cupcake
  • Ribbon - from my stash
  • Dies - Nestabilities Classic Rectangle and Scallop Rectangle
  • Dimensionals
  • Copic Markers - B0000, B21, B34; C1; E30, E31, E33, E35, E37, E41; R01, R12, R21, R22; W0, W1, W3, W4, W6, W8; Y00, Y11, Y21, YG03, YG11
I'm submitting this card also to the following:
Make it Monday - Anything Goes
Ooh la la Creations - Ribbons or Twine
That's it for today.  Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment.  I do appreciate them all and will return the favor.  Have a great day!

Something New Has Been Added

Hello my friends.  No, there is no card or project connected to this post.  But if you look over to the left of this post you will see the new button that has been added!  I just spent the weekend in Dallas, Texas, at a Copic Intermediate Certification class with the fabulous Colleen Schaan as our instructor.  I hope she doesn't mind my sharing this photo of her.  She was awesome as an instructor.  I wish you could have been there.  She is so personable and knowledgeable.  She did a fantastic job presenting all the different points that she wanted us to know about.
There was soooooooooo much covered in the class, so many different techniques, mostly covering shadows and shading  and lighting- my really weak points.  Now it's just a matter of practice, practice, practice.

We were also lucky enough to have Lori Craig there to help out and Sharon Harnist showed up late afternoon for moral support.  I was lucky that they agreed to having a picture with me.

So, that's it for now.  I have to get off here and go play with my toys and try to make sense out of what I learned on Saturday.

Till next time.  Thanks for stopping by.

For Sandy - PSC 31

Would you believe it's Wednesday already!!!!!!  One day closer to attending my Copic Intermediate class.  Can't wait!  Since it's Wednesday, it's time for another Perfect Sentiment challenge.  The challenge this week was to make a Get Well card, but the twist is to NOT use the words Get Well in the sentiment of the card which MUST be on the front of the card.  And "Thinking of You" is NOT a sentiment substitute for "Get Well"  Can't think of one, check out the Perfect Sentiment blog for some suggestions.  Here is my card.

This card was very timely.  I am on the Design Team for Bowdabra and Sandy, who is the owner, got really sick this week and was hospitalized.  I decided to make this card for her.  The layout I used is from SC378 on Splitcoaststampers.
Materials Used:
Image - Under the Weather Xandra from MazyzArt.  printed on XPress It Blending Cardstock
Sentiment - Computer Generated using R84, G158, B164 cut out with the SU oval punch and layered on a piece of SU Baja Breeze, cut using the SU scalloped oval punch.
Designer Paper - Basic Gray - Phresh & Phunky
Cardstock - SU Baja Breeze for the card base and mats.
The added flower is from Prima.
Copics Used:  C000, C0, C01; B000, B41, BG10; E000, E01, E11; E35, E37,E57, R01, R81, R83, R85, and YG11.

Embrace Life

Happy Saturday my friends.  I hope you are all having a great day.  If you are card making today, please scroll down to my post about the Perfect Sentiments Blog Hop this weekend.  Lots of chances to win prizes.

I do have a new card today.  I made this one for The Outlawz Creative Freebie Challenge. I also used an old Deconstructed Sketch #24 for the layout.

Isn't she gorgeous!  I had so much fun coloring her and putting this card together.

Materials Used:
Image - drawn by Anne Fenton of The Outlawz printed out on XPress It Blending Cardstock, colored with Copic Markers and cut using Nestabilities Classic Oval Die cuts.  I used SU Rose Romance to distress the edge of the image oval.
Sentiment - SU Embrace Life stamped with Wisteria Wonder ink on SU Whisper White cardstock and matted on a layer of SU Wisteria Wonder cut using a Verve Die - Charming Banners.
Card base is SU Pretty In Pink
Designer Paper - SU Flirtatious.  I love this paper.  It will be gone soon so I many have to order another package of it.  I used Cricut Elegant Edges to cut the layer the image is matted on.
The 4 strips are cut from SU Wisteria Wonder using a retired SU edge punch.
Flowers - Martha Stewart paper flower stickers.
I used some Stickles on the lower part of her dress, the band, and the flower on her dress.  Her earrings and bracelets are colored using Spica Gel Pen Sand.
Copics:  0 (blender).  I used this all over the dress before I colored it with the Pink colors.  Skin:  E50, E51, E53, and R01 for her cheeks; Dress and shoes: R81, R83, R85; Hair: Y11, Y13, Y15; Outlined image with W00.

That's it for today.  Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment.  If you have a few minutes, scroll down and check out the Blog Hop challenge below.

Hello Dora - TPT

Hi again!  It's me with another post for today.  This one should have been posted yesterday since it is for Teapot Tuesday, but I wasn't able to get it ready by then. This week our destination is Auckland, New Zealand! If you would like a destination for your card this week, how about sending them to Eva! Eva's story came to us by way fellow Teapotter Kim (crazykim). Eva is a sweet, young, little girl only 4 years old that has the sort of health problems that an adult could not deal with it!  She has lived in the hospital for 99% of her young life.  For more information as well as get the address to mail your card, please visit Post #285 in the Teapot Tuesday Destination Station thread on Splitcoaststampers.com.
Eva's favorite character is Dora the Explorer so we were asked to include Dora in our card.  I found this fun image of Dora and a couple of her friends on the Internet.  I just love Google!  I can find just about anything I want.  As to my card:

Materials Used:
Image - Internet
Sentiment - Hero Arts - Thinking of You
Cardstock - Stampin Up:  Whisper White; Rich Razzleberry; Pale Plum; Basic Black
Designer Paper - Stampin Up - Bella Rose
Ink - Stampin Up Rich Razzleberry
Accessories:  Ribbon from my stash; Decorative Scissors; Dimensionals.
Sketch - SCS269

That's it.  Thanks for stopping by.  I really do appreciate it and will get around to check out your blog soon.

Hello again.  Can you believe it's Wednesday already!  Well, I'm ready for it to be Friday!  I just love weekends.  I guess it will get here soon enough.  In the meantime, it's time for another Perfect Sentiment challenge.  We've got a good one.  It's May and that means that it's almost Mother's Day.

Challenge:  Create a card with a sentiment for Mother's Day.  Be sure sentiment is on the front of the card.
Twist:  Add handmade flowers to your card made from punches, dies, Cricut cartridges, etc.
Here is my creation for this week.
.
My image is a digital image from our sponsor Robyn's Fetish called She's a Gem.  I thought she was so pretty and I loved coloring her yellow dress.  I haven't used yellow before.

The prize this week is 5 digital stamps.  Wow!  You really should pop on over there and check out her store and all the fun images she has.

Materials used for my card:
Image - She's a Gem - Robyn's Fetish
Sentiment - Computer Generated
Cardstock - Stampin Up - Barely Banana; Pear Pizzaza; Xpress It Copic Blending Paper
Designer Paper - Basic Gray - Hopscotch
Dies - My Favorite Things - Fancy Flourish; Papertrey Ink - Bloom Builders #3

Copic Markers - B0000; C00, E50, E51, E53; E33, E35; R81; Y11, Y13, Y15, Y18; W2, W5, W6
