Paper Bloggers Unite September Challenge

Our leader, Michelle, on Paper Bloggers Unite challenged us in September to make something related to Fall.  It could be a card, scrapbook page, piece of art, just whatever struck our fancy.  I have a couple of ideas, but to start with I wanted to use this new stamp from Whiff of Joy, Fall Willow Catching Leaves.  Isn't she cute.  I remember the days when I was growing up in Pennsylvania and loved the Fall time of the year.  My brothers and sister and friends would rake up leaves and jump in them and scatter them all over just to have to rake them up again or we would take leaves and make an outline of a house and play house.  Sometimes we drafted my younger brother to come play with us.  This does bring back fond memories and I can almost (yes, almost) feel the cool weather.  Here in Texas we've been having triple digit temperatures so it doesn't really feel like Fall here yet.  A girl can dream can't she.  Jennipher also challenged me to showcase my card using a more interesting background, so I tried that also.  I used 2 sheets from the Linen Prints as a backdrop for the card.

For this card I used Whiff of Joy, Fall Willow Catching Leaves.  She is mounted on SU Cameo Coral which is mounted on SU Close to Cocas as is the sentiment.  For the base of the card I used SU Apricot Appeal and layed a piece of SU Linen Prints on top of that.  Between the base and the image, I put another piece of the Linen Prints which I matted on another piece of Close of Cocoa.  The Image was stamped using Tuxedo Memento Black as was the sentiment.  The image is colored with my Copic markers:  E000, E00, E01, E02; E31, E33, E34, E35, E37; YR12, YR15, YR20, YR21, YG91, YG95, R21, R22, and W01.

Thanks for looking.  I appreciate all comments.  Have a great day!

Dinosaur for Noah

The 4 year old son of a good friend of mine had heart surgery about a week ago.  He's doing pretty good right now and hope that he'll be home soon.  He loves dinosaurs and has bedding and jammies at the hospital that has dinosaurs all over it.  I got this SU stamp set with him in mind to send him a get well card.
I picked up the latest issues of Card Ideas for Paper Crafters the other day and found a layout by Lucy Adams which I used for this card.  It shows a striped background with a focal image and sentiment.  For my card I used Basic Gray Archaic.  The image is SU Dinoroar stamped with Memento Black on Copic Blending Paper and colored in with my Copic markers - Y04, Y08, YG0000, YG03, YG23, YG25, and YG63.  I distressed the edges of the image and sentiment and then matted them on SU Wild Wasabi and then added a piece of taupe ribbon.

Thanks for checking out my blog.  All comments are appreciated.

Symphathy Card

One of my blogger friends posted that a good friend of hers lost his mother to breast cancer recently and requested that we send him a card.  I'm a cancer survivor myself and was more than happy to send a card to him.

I used SU Kraft as the base and embossed the front with Swiss Dots.  The stamp and sentiment are from Papertreyink.com - Sympathy stamped on Kraft with SU Chocolate Chip ink.  It's matter on SU Tempting Turquoise which is matted then on SU Chocolate Chip.  I wanted to add a little color to it, so I used my Copics BG 18 and BG05 to add flowers.

Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate your comments.

Christmas Card Challenge October 2011 No. 3

Well, I was really on a roll this week and so far have gotten 3 cards done for October Challenge.  The image is also from Magnolia Stamps - Tilda with Mistletoe.  Isn't she precious?
Again the card base is SU Real Red.  Not sure where the pattern paper came from.  Found it in my stash.  I matted the image with SU Pear Pizzazz.  The ribbon is SU Red Riding Hood taffeta, and I popped a Prima flower in the middle of it.  The Copics I used were B0000, Y21, Y28, R20, R22, R24, R27, R29, YG0000, YG01, YG03, E000, E01, E11, E18, E31, E33, E34, and E35.

Christmas Card Challenge October 2011 No. 2

I need to come up with 5 cards for the Christmas Card Challenge each month.  This is No. 2.  I'm in love with coloring and trying to add a little more to the layout.  I love looking at the Whiff of Joy website and scroll through all their beautiful cards.  I love all the extras the cardmakers add to their cards.  They are all so beautiful.
I really had a fun time with this one.    Again going through my stash of images and came across this one - Tilda with Wreath by Magnolia Stamps.  Sometimes I color first; sometimes I pick paper first.  This time I colored and was lucky to find this paper to complement it.  I used SU Real Red for the card base and mat.  The DP is Basic Gray Eskimo Kisses.  Ribbon is some I bought at Reasonable Ribbon awhile back.  The flowers are from Prima.  The Copics I used were B0000, R20, R21, R22, R29, W00, YG03, YG93, E000, E01, E11, E30, E31, E33, E41, E43, and E44.

Thanks for coming by and leaving a comment.  I appreciate them all.

Christmas Card Challenge October 2011 No. 1

The other day I was going through my pile of images and pieces of things that I'd put aside and would use someday.  Found these and decided that someday was here.  That's one of the aspects of Stamp 2 Spend - use up what you have.  Of course, I'm a sucker for ribbon and paper so it's hard for me to stay in the black.
The card base is Cranberry Crisp that I made a few years ago by spraying it with a gold webbing spray.  I had the 3 wise men in my stash and used my Copic markers to color them in.  I mounted that panel on a gold metallic panel and adhered it to the card base.  The Star and Sentiment come from the SU Snow Twirled set and I used the SU oval scallop punch to punch out the sentiment and popped it up over the main panel.  The Copics I used were W9 to darken up the camels, R39, YR23, BG05, BG53, E30, and E31.

September 2011 Christmas Card Challenge + 2

I started out to get a jump on my September cards for the SCS Christmas Card Challenge, and ended up doing 2 other challenges with it.  The layout is the current SCS Sketch Challenge 346, and it also is used for the SCS Stamp 2 Spend Challenge #3.  I picked out the stamp first and then went looking for a layout and thought the 346 would be perfect.  I love Whiff of Joy stamps and hadn't used this one yet.
The stamp is Whiff of Joy - Uru and Candycane; sentiment is also WOJ - Season's Greetings.  I also purchased the matching die that I used to cut out the tag - really cool.

The card base, mat, and sentiment are SU Cherry Cobbler; dp is Basic Gray, Figgy Pudding collection - Red Ryder (love it).  I stamped on GF white using Memento Tuxedo Black.  I stamped the sentiment with SU Craft White. Not sure where I got the ribbon, but it says it's Robert Stanley Collection.  The flowers are from Prima's Holiday Poinsettia collection when a dot of gold bling in the center.  I love bling.  The sentiment is popped up using dimentionals.

Of course I colored it with my Copics - E0000, E01, E02; E35, E37, E39, R39, R32, R35, R37, G09, W0.

I dug out a bottle of White Smooch which is pearlized ink and used that on the candycane which gives it a little glimmer.
