Lucky Doxie

Welcome Spring!  We are finally getting some Spring weather - at least for a few days. Chilly and rain should be back on Thursday. I wanted to get this posted over the weekend, but I got involved in household projects that have been waiting for the right time to do them. Since it was a rainy Saturday, I planned to stay in and had done my errands on the way home from work on Friday night.

I'm also all caught up now on my Girls of the Baker's Dozen Monthly Challenge cards.  This last kit came to us from Sue (stampinspooky on SCS).  She chose St. Patrick's Day for a theme.

 Materials Used:
  • Image - Digi from her stash
  • Sentiment - Stampin Up = Fancy Flexible Phrases
  • Cardstock - GP White; SU Handsome Hunter and Creamy Caramel
  • Designer Paper - The Paper Studio
  • Ink - SU Handsome Hunter
  • Accessories - Mesh Ribbon - Michaels; SU 1" punch; 1 1/4" scallop punch
  • Copic Markers - E11, E13, E17; E25, E29, E47, E49; G07, G17, G19; Spica Gold gel pen

She also gave us a Sketch Challenge to use:
I turned the sketch on it's side to use. That's it.  I'm patiently waiting for our April kit and hope to have time to get working on it in a more timely manner. But don't count on it.  ;)

Ride Em Cowboy! OSAAT #233

Yee Haw!  Don't you just love a good rodeo!  The Houston Rodeo is just winding up this weekend. I don't actually go, but I do see some of the highlights on the news. Every night during the rodeo part, a major airline gives away 2 tickets to anywhere in the US to one cowboy they call the High Flying Cowboy. That's the one who takes a really horrible tumble off of a bull during the bull riding contest. Some of those guys really get beat up. What a way to earn a living! While I was trying to decide what to do with this cute image, the idea just came to me so I made it look like the cowboy was roping that horse. I like the way it turned out. Our them for this fortnight is Anything Goes With Nature!

Materials Used:
  • Image - Ken Benner - Cowboy Twirling a Lariat; Stampin Up Wanted
  • Sentiment - Found on the Internet and changed the font and added color
  • Cardstock - Stampin Up Baja Breeze; Xpress It Blending Card
  • Designer Paper - Stampin Up - Western Sky
  • Ink - Stampin Up Chocolate Chip
  • Accessories - Twine and cardboard star from my stash; corner punch
  • Copic Markers - BG18, BG57, BG75; C3, C5, C7, C9; E04, E07, E23, E27, E29; E40; E70; E95, E97; Spica Gel Pen - Gold
We are sponsored of course by our own Stitchy Bear Outlet Store and the prize package for the one randomly picked winner is the March Prize Pack. Lots of fun goodies.
I hope you all will come on over and play with us this month.

I hope I can make it through the day and it's going to be another late night tonight. Just hoping that we don't get too much rain.

Shabby Valentine

Good morning my friends, and it really is morning.  I'm getting this posted before I go off to work. I have a few cards this week to show you. I had a very productive weekend including cleaning out the pantry. Ugh! Why do I buy some things since they just get trashed 6 months later when I don't use them?

On Splitcoaststampers (SCS) I belong to a group called Girls of the Baker's Dozen Monthly Challenge. So every month one of the members puts together a kit and sends it out to all the rest of the members. From the title, you may be able to figure out that this swap "year" there are 13 of us. I am usually always behind, but was able to get caught up finally.  My first card to share was from the January kit sent out by Roxie (morgainegeiser).  She sent us Valentine images and some shabby chic embellishments.

Except for the flowers, card base and mats, everything was sent in the kit.
Materials Used:
Image - CC Designs
Cardstock - SU Whisper White and Kraft
Designer Paper - Marthat Stewart (used a piece for the sentiment)

Birthday Time - OSAAT #232

Happy Sunday my friends. I hope you're having a good one wherever you are and whatever the weather is.  And I hope you remembered to turn that clock forward. I hate losing that hour of sleep every Spring. Yesterday was beautiful. We get a day or 2 of nice weather and then it's either cold or rainy. Today is rainy and more to come. At least the case is closed with my car; got my check from the insurance company for the whole amount less my $250 deductible.  That was a great surprise since they covered that whole $585 towing bill.  <insert happy dance>

Sunday is time for another challenge from One Stitch at a Time.  This week our them is Anything Goes With Women. Here's my card -

  • Image - My Heart Pieces - Birthday Time

Let's Get Naught-y! (Nautical)

LOL!  Don't expect to see naughty images on this blog post!  This is all about getting "Nautical."  I was invited to join the Sisterhood of the Traveling Cards continuing swap group on SCS. Great bunch of ladies. We make cards on a 2-month schedule so you only have 6 per year and you only need to send in 6 cards and get 5 back. For January/February, our Hostess was MiamiKel4 (Kelly) and here is what she gave us to work with --

Since most of you know my obsessive love of the ocean, and to get you out of your cold months and winter snow, let's create cards with a nautical theme! Think lighthouses, sailboats, anchors, maps and more, let your creativity flow and your heart 'sail' ♥

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Mark Twain

Sets your sails creating and I 'shore' can't wait to see your cards!
♥ ~Kelly

Spring Elves - CK #79

Hi Friends and Happy Thursday! We were so lucky to have two lovely days with warmer weather and now it's back to being Winter again with temps in the 40's and 50's for the next several days and colder over night. I was hoping that this card with the Spring Elves would keep the warm weather around, but no such luck. Things have kind of settled down here. I'm still waiting to hear from my insurance company to find out how much of the car repair bill they are going to reimburse me for. I got a call from the Service Manager today, but I was swamped at work today and didn't have time to talk to her. I'm sure she is responding to the answers I gave on a survey that they sent me yesterday about my experience in their Service Department. <insert sly look and nasty laugh> I left a message so maybe she'll call me tomorrow. I really do want to have that conversation.

So, it's time for our Creative Knockouts challenge.  This week our theme is "Border Time." Sounds easy to me.  Here is my card.
Materials Used:
  • Image - The Paper Shelter - Spring Elves (comes with a background also)
  • Sentiment - Whiff of Joy - Spring Sentiments
