Ding Dong Fae - OSAAT #227

Hi my friends. Happy Sunday after Christmas.  I enjoyed spending time with one of my daughters and her family. We had the traditional Christmas dinner but my poor son-in-law is recovering from hernia surgery he had on Tuesday, so he was not allowed to eat any of the food we fixed including dessert.  That meant lots of leftovers and I brought enough home to have 3 more meals. It's been really good.  And now we get ready for New Year's! I'm not a party person but I'm looking forward to having another 4-day weekend. Lots to do around the house including organizing and cleaning up my stamp room. It's a wreck! I am still working on some holiday cards to send out, but they are turning out to be Seasons' Greetings and Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas. Sorry to my blogging friends that I didn't get them all done before the holidays.

On to what I think is my last Christmas card for this year. The theme over at One Stitch at a Time is Anything Goes with Stitching.
I thought that the paper was pretty busy and I wanted the image to stand out, so I didn't really add any embellishments to it.

Materials Used:
  • Image - Pookie Designs - Fae 1
  • Sentiment - Lili of the Valley
  • Cardstock - Xpress It Blending Card; Stampin Up - Cherry Cobbler

  • Copic Markers - B0000; E11, E21, E50; G20, G40, G43; R24, R27, R39, R89

Snow Kitten

Hello my friends!  Christmas!  Only 3 days away.  I hope you're ready. I'm almost. I still have gifts to wrap but I'll save that until my usual Christmas Eve. I'll be heading over to my daughter's house on Christmas morning to celebrate with them. It will be interesting this year. We'll have kind of a double meal. My grand daughter is vegetarian so even though my daughter will be cooking turkey breast, there will only be 3 of us eating it. My son-in-law is having hernia surgery I think on Tuesday so he'll be only having a liquid diet. Why, you say? It's one of those insurance things. Had to schedule it before the end of the year. Prayers for his speedy recovery will be appreciated.

Well, on to my card. My life has been kind of topsy turvy since Thanksgiving and my brother-in-law's funeral. Kind of threw me off kilter with what I was supposed to accomplish. I did make this card some time ago for Creative Knockouts Design Team only I completely forgot to not only put it on the DT blog, but never put it on my own blog.  :(  :(  I have NEVER forgotten to post a card before. As I said, my life has been pretty crazy for the last month. Anyway, I've been forgiven for not getting it posted, but I did want to show it off after all my hard work.

  • Image - Inky Impressions - Snow Kitten

Be Merry - Pixy Two - CCC #77

Hi my friends and Happy Tuesday.  It is with mixed emotions that I let everyone know that this will be my last post for Creative Card Crew as I will be stepping down as part of the Design Team starting with the New Year. It's been great fun and I've enjoyed every minute and every challenge. Unfortunately, personal things sometimes get in the way and with a full time job already, I could no longer honor the commitment I made when I joined the group. I wish them all the best and look forward to being a participant in the challenges some times rather than on the design team. That all being said, here is my last card.  Our challenge this time is so easy - Anything Goes. Also to give the Design Team a break this challenge will go for three weeks but there will be no commenting from the Design Team during that time. I know they all look forward to gearing up once again with the start of the New Year.

Kingfisher

Hi friends and happy Sunday! We are done with Thanksgiving and now on to Christmas. Have you gotten your shopping done yet. I stayed up way late the other night doing all mine on Amazon. Lucky me, all my kids have Amazon Wish Lists so it was pretty easy to just go see what everyone had on their lists and pick out things. Of course, I then had to e-mail what I had gotten one person to all the others so we didn't get the same things. I think most of them are already on their way to me. Next up - wrapping and shipping!

A couple weeks ago I made this card. It was an image and digital paper pack from Stitchy Stamps - Creator - Coosty Creations. I offered to show case it in a card. With all that was going on in our family the last few weeks I wasn't able to get it on my blog although the card was finished. In fact, I took it to my brother-in-law when he was in the hospital just a couple days before he passed away. Since he's kind of a country boy, I thought he would enjoy this image.

Materials Used:
  • Image - Coosty Creations - Kingfisher
  • Sentiment - Hero Arts - Thinking of You

Good morning.  Sorry I'm a little late getting my post up this morning. Yesterday was brother-in-law's funeral and we were back at my sister's house until late. My daughter and her family had to fly back to California, but my cousin and brother & his wife are still here. Exotic Enchantment - CK #65

Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope you are all enjoying yourselves on this lovely day. I have so much to be grateful for, but most importantly for my very life and His abundant Grace. I will be gathering with my sister and our family members later today, but we will be missing one of the family. My sister's husband passed through to the other side of the veil early Monday morning.  He had been sick in the hospital for only a week and we thought that he was improving, but then took a turn for the worse and they had to put him on continuous dialysis knowing that he might not make it. Then I got that dreaded phone call at 12:20 am. Monday telling me that he was gone. We will have the viewing on Friday evening and the service/burial on Saturday, but meantime we are celebrating all that we are thankful for and for all the years that Frank was part of the family. He was a very kind, decent, generous man who went around quietly doing good for others.  He will be missed by many.

Sorry, I don't want to get all sad and mopey, because that's not what any life is about. We celebrate life whether here or in the hereafter. That's exactly how Frank would have wanted it. So on to my card for this week's Creative Knockouts challenge. Our theme is All That Glitters, so don't forget to add some sparkley stuff to your card this week.

Strawhat - OSAAT #224

Hi my friends.  I hope everyone is doing well.  I'm still in southern California visiting with my daughter and family.  I've seen the play twice and enjoyed it more last night since I wasn't as tired as I was on Wednesday night after an early wake up and a long day of traveling. We'll be going again tonight, but unfortunately my son-in-law won't be here with us.  His grandmother (90 yo) suffered a stroke on Wednesday so he flew home to be with his family at her bedside.  Prayers for them will be appreciated.  She has requested nothing to keep her alive so it's only a matter of time until she passes.  She is ready to go, but will be greatly missed by all of the family.

With Thanksgiving coming upon us soon, it is a time to reflect on all the blessings that have been bestowed upon us by a loving Heavenly Father and to give thanks for all that we have.  Our theme this week for One Stitch at a Time is Anything Goes With Thanks.  Here is my card.

Good morning my friends.  Did you remember to turn your clocks back so you get an extra hour to sleep?  I did, but then I woke up early so totally negated that extra hour.  Good thing though because I forgot to do my blog post last night.  I had a busy day with attending a baby shower and then errands around town and lots of household chores.

This fortnight we are making projects with the theme of Anything Goes With Distressing.   So lets see some of that distressing on those projects - doesn't have to be a card.  Here is my Design Team creation. BLOG CANDY WINNER!

Hi my friends!  First, I want to thank all of you who visited my blog to wish me a Happy Birthday!  It was a great birthday week.  I celebrated every day going out to lunch or dinner and still had a couple lunches left over for this week too.  I do love to eat.  Good think I like to work out too!  ;)

On the the business at hand - here is the prize again in case you have forgotten what it looked like.
   This consists of:
  1. October Afternoon 8 x 8 Paper Pad - Witch Hazel
  2. October AFternoon Witch Hazel embellishments
  3. Roll of Halloween ribbon
  4. We R Memory Keepers spider web brads
  5. Studio G Happy Halloween clear stamps
  6. Jolee's Boutique - spiders and webs stickers
Lots of fun stuff to play with.

On to picking the winner.  I went through all the comments and made a list as they were entered on my blog of each person who said Happy Birthday and gave each one a number.  Then I used my Random Generator to pick a number.  The number that was picked was No. 12.

I thought I could post the list here, but it won't let me attach it.  :(    I'll just have to announce it without showing the list

The winner of the Birthday Blog Candy for 2014 is BECCA CRUGER!
Congratulations Becca!  I need you to e-mail me your snail mail address so I can get your prize off to you.  Thanks again to everyone for the birthday wishes.  I also appreciate those who became new followers.  I need to come by your blogs and return the favor.  This was fun, and I look forward to having another blog candy giveaway sometime.

A Little Wicked Honey - CK #61

Happy Halloween Eve or as we always celebrated when I was a kid - "Mischief Night"!  What fun that used to be.  I don't know if kids still roam the streets causing Havoc anymore on Halloween Eve!  Oh wait!  They do that all year round nowadays don't they??  ;)  Sad, but true.  Back in the "good old days" it was all just in fun - soaping car windows, teepeeing people's houses, throwing candy corn on their porches, etc. We never did anything that was vandalism that would do damage to someone's property, just had some fun.  I also grew up in a small town where everyone knew everyone else's business.  It was hard to get away with anything.

I wanted to present one last Halloween card for this year.  Over at Creative Knockouts I had a choice between a wedding image and Wicked Honey and chose to do Halloween again.  Our theme this week is Patchwork Pretties, so use patchwork design on your card.  Here's mine -

Kitty Kat Boo - CCC #73 - Bow + Blog Candy

Hi friends and Happy Tuesday!  I hear from my Northern friends that they are having cold weather and even snow.  Here in H Town we're still in the 80's, but the weather person says that's going to change soon.  One thing I miss about not living in the North is the changing color of the leaves.  They look so pretty all orange, yellow, and gold.  And the kids are all getting ready to go out Trick or Treating on Halloween!  That was always a fun time in my little home town.  Not like it is these days.  I thought I'd celebrate the spirit of Halloween with my card this week for Creative Card Crew. Our theme this fortnight is Bows!  See, super easy.

Materials Used:

  • Image - Lacy Sunshine - Kitty Kat Boo
  • Sentiment - Cut from a piece of designer paper
  • Cardstock - Xpress It Blending Card; Stampin Up, Basic Black
  • Designer Paper - Graphic 45 - Happy Haunting
  • Accessories - Cricut Halloween Die Cut; Martha Stewart - Fir Branch Punch; Spider and ribbon from my stash; Recollections – Flowers

We have two great sponsors this fortnight --

Prize: 3 Images
So, now it's your turn.  Hop on over to the Creative Card Crew challenge blog and bring a bow along with you however you want to make it.  This time you could be one of our winners.  Hope to see you there!

So, now that is taken care of, we're on to a fun part of this post.  Not only is it Tuesday, but it's also my BIRTHDAY!  That's right!  And to celebrate instead of receiving gifts, I want to give a gift to one of my followers.  All you have to do is leave a comment with a Happy Birthday wish and you will be eligible to win this prize.  You'll have until October 30 to enter.  Have fun!
