Winter Wonderland Vintage Style - PSC51

Hello again my friends.  It's Wednesday, "Hump Day" as we call it in the working world.  The week is half over and we're on the down side to the weekend!  Today also happens to be a holiday for my boss, so he will be out of the office today.  Yippee!    I don't want him to hear me say that, so I'm whispering.  ;)    Time for another challenge from Perfect SentimentThis weeks challenge is to create a card with a Christmas sentiment (on the front of your card) and the twist is to use something vintage on your card - image, sentiment, paper, embellishment, or whatever you have in your stash.

Our lovely sponsor this week is Patti's Creations and the prize for one lucky winner will be 1 free digi of their choice.
I found my "free" digital image at Digital Two for Tuesday blog.  Cora owns this blog and she somehow scours very old books and magazines where the copyrights have either expired or they didn't have one in the first place and then she digitizes the pictures in the books to make them into digital stamps.  The one I used is from the Little Folks Paint Book.  Cora says, "There is no copyright but I think it is from the late 30's."  And she does all this for FREE!  She doesn't charge for any of these image.  Can't beat that with a stick!

I created this card some time ago and did no write down any of the details for making it.  I do know that the c/s that I used is Stampin Up Brilliant Blue.  This has become one of my all time favorites colors.  The image was printed on Xpress It Blending Card and distressed around the edges before matting it on SU Brilliant Blue.  The designer paper is from my stash and the sentiment is a piece I cut from another piece of d/p and mounted on a strip of SU Whisper White.  There is some sparkles on the d/p.  It doesn't show up so well.  I tied the ribbon around the piece of dp and then layered a doily over it and then added the image layer.  The corner piece is from Wild Orchid Crafts and the snowflake was from my stash of stuff.  I did use some Opaque White for the snow to give it some texture.  Sorry I can't tell you which markers I used, but play around with yours until you get it to look the way you want it to.

How, how about a look at the creations from the rest of the DT.  You can find links to their blogs over on the left side of my blog.  They have really done a fabulous job this week (as usual).  Don't forget to make a card of your own and link it up to Mr. Linky on the PSC blog.  You maybe be the big prize winner or you could be chosen as one of the Perfect 3 this week.

I am submitting this card for the following challenges:

Bearly Mine - Use a Sentiment
Craft Room Challenge - Childhood Memories
MarkerPop Coloring Challenge - Color Something

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comments.  I do appreciate each of you for taking the time to do so.  Have a fabulous week!

Fall {Pin}Spiration

Hello my friends.  Don't you just love it when you get a post all done and then somehow you hit the wrong button and it's all gone!!!!!!  That's just what happened to me.  Darn!  I was just about finished and the little mouse went to the wrong place and deleted my whole blog post. So here I am redoing the whole thing.

This week at {Pin}spirational challenge our task was to create a card using this beautiful photo as our inspiration.

I love the Fall colors and I do miss them having grown up in the North, but now residing in the South.  We had a maple tree in our front yard of the house where I grew up.  It turned a brilliant bright yellow every  Fall.  Gorgeous!

For my card, I used the tree and colors as inspiration.  Here is my card.
Materials Used:
  • Image - Autumn Leaves - Stampology
  • Cardstock - Xpress It Blending Card; Stampin Up Marigold Morning and Pear Pizzazz
  • Designer Paper - Bo Bunny - Country Garden
  • Ink - Memento - Rich Cocoa
  • Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts
  • Ribbon - My stash
  • Nestabilities - Classic Oval Die and Classic Scallop Die
  • Leaves - Martha Stewart Punch
  • Copic markers - 0; B0000, G0000, G12, G43
That's it!  Done.  Now you need to check out the rest of the Design Team.  You can find links to their blog on my left sidebar.  Once you do that, you need to create your own card using the above photo as your inspiration and then link up to the {Pin}spiration Challenge Blog and maybe you'll be the winner this week.

Our sponsor this week is Stitchy Bear Stamps.  Don't forget to stop by their store and check out all the fabulous designs over there.

I am submitting this card for the following challenges:

House of Gilli - 2 of your favorite things -- 2 die cuts and 2 flowers
Lollipop Crafts - 2 punches or dies
Make it Monday - Anything Goes
My Grafico - Fall into Fall
Paper Playtime - Punches and a Sentiment

Birthday Boy - PSC50

Hi, and welcome to Wednesday!   Time for another Perfect Sentiment challenge!  This one will be fun and I bet we have a ton of crafters playing with us this week.  The theme is Happy Birthday!  We all have lots of birthdays to make cards for, so I hope you'll play along with us.  The "twist" on this card is to make it Masculine!  That's right - a boy card.  They are really so hard for me.  If I can't put flowers and lace on it, I'm lost.  ;)

Our sponsor this week is Parables of a Crafter.  The owner of this website/challenge blog is Theresa and she is one of our our DT members!  She's just fabulous.  She is having some health issues right now and if you're the praying kind of person, maybe your could say a little prayer for her recovery from some surgery.
The prize up for grabs this week is a $10 GC to Flourishes!  Wow!  Isn't that a great gift.  Here's a link to their store so you can check it out HERE!

That being said, here is the card that I created for the challenge.

I'm actually putting this card away for a few months and will give it to my dear grandson on his birthday in January.  This little guy just reminds me of him so much.  He is a special needs child and we are so blessed to have him in our family.  He's also one smart kid and is in some AP classes in Middle School this year.

Like I said, I don't do masculine very well.  The best I could come up with was the blue ribbon to add to it.

Materials Used:
  • Image - Big Day Tobie from Some Odd Girls stamps
  • Cardstock - Express It Blending Card; Stampin Up Brillian Blue
  • Designer Paper - My Mind's Eye - Hootenanny collection
  • Sentiment - Verve - Time to Celebrate
  • Ink  Tuxedo Memento Black
  • Ribbon - Stash; 1 3/4" round punch
  • Copic Markers - B0000; B14, B21, B9; E31, E33, E35, E41, E50, E51, E53;G000, G12, G21; R0000, R00, R01, Y17
That's all for today.  Why don't you just pop on over to Perfect Sentiment challenge and see what the rest of the Design Team and our Guest Designer have created for your inspiration.  You can also find links to their blogs on the blog roll on the left side of my blog.  Then get busy and create your own masculine birthday card for that special someone and link it up on the blog and maybe you'll be the winner this week of the prize or be chosen as one of the Perfect 3.  Good luck!

Don't forget to grab our badge and leave a comment on the PSC that you've done so for our blog hop coming up the week of October 10.  It's going to be lots of fun, and I don't want you to miss any of it.

I will be submitting my card for the following challenges:

Carly with a Bow

Welcome to my blog on this lovely Tuesday!  Have I got some news for you!  You might just see a new button my my blog and maybe have an idea of what that news might be.  YES!  You're so right!  I've been invited to join the Design Team for {Pin}spirational Challenge and of course I said yes!  What a fab group of ladies.  A couple of them belong to the same blogging group as me, so we're old friends.  I'm sure this is going to be lots of fun.

As you may have guessed from the challenge title, this has something to do with Pinterest.  Every week we have a new picture which is taken from Pinterest as the inspiration for our challenge.  This week it's this cute little whale picture and don't you just love the sentiment.
Don't you wish everyone could be happy all the time. What a wonderful world that would be. Here is my card.
I just went with the Happy part along with using the blue and pink colors along with a little yellow.  Our sponsor this week is Digi Garden and I have chosen to use Carly with a Bow for my image.  The sentiment is an old one that I dug out of my stash called Happy from The Angel Company.  I used Xpress It Blending Card to print out the image and the card base and mat are Stampin Up Rose Romance (retired).  I wish you could see this designer paper IRL.  It's absolutely gorgeous.  It's the Madeline collection from Prima.  I also used Stampin Up Soft Sky cardstock for the lower border which was punched using one of Martha Stewart's edge borders.  The flowers are from my stash and the leaf branches are punched using MS Fir Branch out of SU Pear Pizzazz (one of my favorite colors).  I used my Copic markers to color the image:  BG0000, BG000, BG02, BG10; E31, E33, E35; E50, E51, E53; R81, R83, R85; T2, T5, and T7.

I am submitting this card to the following challenges:

Possies

Can't believe that I'm back again already.  I have been busy today, but had a fun evening out with a girlfriend. We went to dinner and then went to see Sherlock Holmes, His Last Adventure on stage.  It's put on by a small repertoire company, and it was really very entertaining  We both enjoyed the evening very much.

One thing I did today was make this card for the Gingerloft Challenge.
Since the card is basically white, I put it on a piece of Poppy Parade cardstock so you could see the white.  The challenge this time was to use embossing wet or dry.  I chose to use this fabulous embossing/cutting folder from Marianne Designs.  It cuts the holes in the cardstock as it embosses.  It is kind of hard to see the embossing on the white.  I put a piece of Stampin Up Poppy Parade behind the front of the card for it to show through the cutouts.

The image is "Poppies" from Gingerloft Digi Store which I printed on Xpress It Blending Card and cut out with my Nestabilities Oval Die and matted it on a piece of SU Poppy Parade cut using another Nestabilities Oval Die.  The Sentiment is from Stampin Up Fancy Flexible Phrases and the ribbon is from my stash.

The image was colored using my Copic markers:  B0000; C7, C10; G21, G24, G29; R08, R27, R46; YR15.

I am submitting my card for these challenges:

Digitally Sweet  - Anything Goes With Flowers
Pattie's Creations - Embossing
Shelly's Images - Anything Goes
Simply Create - Anything Goes

Thanks as always for stopping by and leaving your comments.  Your time and effort are appreciated.

Tossa & LIttle Whiskers

When I saw the Pinspiration for this week's challenge I just had to take part.  First of all the kitty in the photo looks just like my Chancey featured in the header of my blog.  Isn't he adorable.

And I just love stamps that have kitties in them.  I pulled this one from my stash that I haven't inked up as yet, so it was about time.  Here is my card.

The image is from Bildmalarna which I stamped on Xpress It Blending Card and cut with Nestabilities round die and matted on the Scallop round die cut out of Stampin Up So Saffron.  I've also used So Saffron for the base of the card and for the mat of the sentiment made using the SU Scallop round punch.  The sentiment is Stampin Up Riveting stamped on SU Whisper White and cut using a 1 1/4" round punch.

The designer paper is My Mind's Eye - Dolled Up.  The ribbon and flower are from my stash.  I used I used My Favorite Things Weekly Stamp Club Sketch 88 for my layout.

The image of course was colored using my Copic markers:  B0000; BG10, BG1, BG32; C1, C4; E000, E01, E04, E08, E11, E13, E31, E33, E35, E40, E42; G14, G43, G29; R01; Y11, Y13, Y15, Y18; 0 (Blender)

I am also submitting this card to the following challenges:

Happy Wednesday!  Well, it was until I just lost my whole Blog Post!  Ugh!  Now to get it all uploaded again.

The mornings here have been a little cooler than they have been all Summer.  It's a harbinger of Fall.  It's almost in the air.  The hummingbirds have returned to my feeders again, and I'm very happy to see them again.  They are only here from August til about November on their way South.  In keeping with that, the theme for the Perfect Sentiment Challenge this week is to make a card using a sentiment of Fall/Thanksgiving.  The twist is to use Baker's Twine on your card.

Our sponsor this week is Shelly's Images.  You can visit her store HERE

Check it out and see all the fabulous images she has.  One lucky winner this week will win one free digital image.

Now on to my card for this week's challenge.

Special Day

My oldest daughter has a birthday coming up this month.  I won't say how old she's going to be; not that she'd care, but it will tell you how OLD I AM!  LOL!   Since she lives in California, it's hard to do gifts, so we mostly do gift cards.  But I want her to have something pretty, so I make her a special card.  I'm submitting this one to the Twisted Tuesday challenge this week which was to make a card for someone you love and the twist was to use lots of color.  You can find them HERE.  I think this one qualifies on both counts.

The layout was based on one of Bev Rochester's layouts.  I twisted up her layout just a little bit.

Materials Used:
  • Image - I have no idea where I got this stamp.  It wasn't very long ago, but I've looked through all my receipts and can't find it listed anywhere, so if someone recognizes it, please let me know.
  • Sentiment - Stampin Up - Happiest Birthday Wishes
  • Cardstock - Gina K 120# for the card base; Stampin Up - Cajun Craze and Summer Sun
  • Paper - Basic Gray - Marrakech
  • Flowers, Brad, metal circle - stash.
  • Border Punch - Martha Stewart
  • Copic Markers - B0000; B21, B34, B41; C00, C0, C1, C3, C5, C7; E000, E00, E11, E21, E23, E57; R00, R05; Y11, Y13, Y17, Y18; Y32, Y35; 0
Well, that's it.  I sure hope she likes it.

Teapot Tuesday 214

It's NOT Tuesday you say!  No, it's not Tuesday.  In fact, it will be Thursday by the time you see this card.   I haven't had the opportunity to play along with TPT for a few weeks now, but was so happy to be able to play in this one for a couple of reasons.

The lady who our cards are going to was in a head on collision with another car that strayed into her lane of traffic and she was severely injured.  They weren't sure she was going to make it, but with her will and determination she is fighting back.  She's in rehab and probably will be for some time because walking is an issue, although she can eat on her own and talk.  If you'd like to join in, here is a link to the story and the lady's address where to send the cards.

This hits very close to home since about 3 years ago, my younger brother was a victim of road rage and was forced off the road into a concrete highway barrier and suffered multiple injuries that have left him paralyzed from the neck down.  I have been so amazed that he has not let this get him down or keep him from doing things that he loves to do.  In fact, he and my SIL are on a cruise this week which I think is fabulous!  Yes, there have been many changes in his life, but he was not one to sit down and pity himself and say "Why me"?  He has accepted his lot in life and has gone on from there.

So much for my story to you.  Here now is the card that I created for Brenda.
And I also wanted to show you the inside.  I couldn't find a place for the sentiment on the outside, so I stamped it inside the card.
If you can't read it so well, it says, "Miracles are everywhere; you'll find them in the tiniest moments of every ordinary day."  I thought this was very fitting for the occasion.

Materials Used:
  • Image - My Craft's Meow - Butterfly Kisses
  • Sentiment - Lili of the Valley
  • Cardstock - SU Marigold Morning; SU Whisper White; Daffodil Delight
  • Designer Paper - Prima - Zephyr collection
  • Ink - SU Daffodil Delight; Memento Black
  • Martha Stewart small butterfly punches
  • Flower - Recollections
  • Lace trim - from my stash
  • Pearls - Recollectins
Well, that's it.  I did use MOJO242 Sketch for my card.

I will be submitting this card to the following challenges:
Crafts and Me - Use a Flower
Digistamps4Joy - Colors of Spring
Inky Impressions - Anything Goes
My Mum's Craft Shop - Anything Goes
Deep Ocean Challenge - Things with Wings
Papelitos Stamps - Anything Goes

That's all for tonight!  Gotta get the beauty rest.  Thanks again for coming by my blog, I certainly appreciate your time.

Herbie's Holiday Cheer PSC48

Happy Wednesday my friends.  It's been a great week so far since I've been on vacation.  Drat that I have to finally go back to work, but it sure was nice having the long weekend.  Got tons done around my house and I was able to work on a couple cards including this one for today's PSC challenge.

This week's theme is another easy one - The season or occasion of your choice!  The twist is to use a critter of some sort on your card - It can be a teddy bear, mouse, frog, elephant, spider, whatever you want.  Just remember to put your sentiment on the front of your card.

Our sponsor this week is Crafty Sentiments Designs and the prize for the winner of this week's challenge is 3 digital images!  Fabulous!
Now, to get to my card.  I actually used a digi image from Crafty Sentiments Designs for my card.  So cute.
This is Herbie Bear from Crafty Sentiments Designs

Materials Used:
  • Sentiment - Just Rite Stamps - Noel Christmas Ornaments
  • Cardstock - Xpress It Blending Card; Stampin Up Cherry Cobbler; SU Whisper White

Holiday Cardinals

Happy Labor Day Weekend!  I hope you are all enjoying good weather or if not so good, that you are still having a fun one!  I have an extended weekend coming up with an extra day off on Tuesday, so no work for 4 days!!!!!!!  I did have a day full of mostly chores starting out with getting the oil changed in my car and if you don't want to be there all day, you have to get there early.  Even though I was there at 7:30, I was still No 6 in line.  With the oil change, rotating the tires, balancing the wheels, new wiper blades and then being told I really needed a transmission flush I was there until 10.  Luckily I took my Kindle Fire along with me, so I was entertained while I waited.

Well, one of the other things I did today was finish up my card for the Gingerloft Challenge.   This fortnight's these is Birds of a Feather, so you must use an image of a bird on your card.  I chose Two Cardinals from the Gingerloft store.  I love watching a pair of these at my bird feeders in my back yard.  They are so beautiful and have such a pretty song.

I also love red birds and Christmas together, so I decided to make mine a holiday card.  The image is printed out on Xpress It Blending Card and colored in with my Copic markers.  I used Stampin Up Cranberry Crisp cardstock (retired) for the card base and mats.  The image mat was cut with my Nestabilities - scallop rectangle.  The dp is from My Mind's Eye - All is Bright collection.  I didn't need a sentiment stamp since my ribbon is already printed with one on it which is from American Crafts - Christmas/Winter. The flowers are Holiday Poinsettia from Prima and the gold glitter brads are from my stash.

I am submitting my card for these challenges:

The Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge - Use an animal
ATC's and Cards with Attitude - Anything Goes
Crafty Catz Weekly - 1 image; 2 papers, 3 embellishments
Fat Pages With Attitude - Anything Goes
Inspire Me Fridays - Anything Goes
Pause, Dream, Enjoy - Birds or Chicks
Polkadoodles -  Flowers
The Poodles Parlour - Things with Wings

Thanks again for stopping by and leaving your comment.  I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.
