Congrats Grad - PSC25

Happy Wednesday!  You know that means it's time for another Perfect Sentiments challenge!  This one was really tough for me.  First let me tell you about the challenge -

Challenge: Create a card with a sentiment of congratulations or any sentiment that acknowledges an accomplishment or encourages someone to pursue their dreams/goals.  Examples include:  Congrats, You Did It, Dream Big, So Proud of You, You Rock, Shoot for the Stars, etc.  Remember your sentiment must be on the front of the card.
Twist:  Use the attached sketch as inspiration for your card design.  Feel free to rotate or flip the sketch to make it work for you as long as we can still see the basic outline of the sketch in your design.

No problem with the sketch, but I just had a tough time finding the right stamps to use for this challenge.  I now know that I need to work on getting more sentiments although I have been finding lately that I can computer generate my own.  Maybe something to think about.  So here's the card that I finally came up with after searching through all the stamps that I own.

I did flip the sketch so that it would cooperate with my layout.  I decided on the Stampin Up First Edition pattern paper and since it is Vanilla and Black, I went with that color combo.

Materials I used:
Image - Stampendous Cap & Gown Day stamped with Memento Black Ink.
Cardstock - Stampin Up Ultrasmooth Vanilla, Basic Black, Brilliant Blue, and Summer Sun
Embossing Folders - Congratulations and Swiss Dots
Nestabilities - Lacey Oval Die
Stars - SU Small Star punch; bling from my stash
Copics - B24 and Y35.

Winter Wonderland CASE

This card has a two-fold purpose.  First of all, I need to make 6 cards this month for the Christmas Card  Challenge on splitcoaststampers.  This was a start.  Just need to make 5 more.  The images are different, but I'm thinking that I'll use the same layout.  The second purpose is that on one of the blog groups that I belong to, Stamp Addicts, one of the things we do every couple of weeks is CASE a card that one of the other members has made.  CASE - Copy and Share Everything.  This time, we're CASE'ing Marilyn and I picked this card from her blog HERE.  Her card is so cute.  I love the reindeer image, and the paper and layout is just beautiful.  For my card, I pretty much followed her layout.

The image is a pre-colored image from Lily of the Valley.  They are great for quick cards.  I used Stampin Up Vintage Violet cardstock for the base and the mats for all the layers.  The pattern paper is from my stash.  I was lucky I had these because I couldn't find anything else that would go with this image.  The sentiment is from Whiff of Joy Seasons' Greetings and the metal corner filigree is from Wild Orchid Crafts.  For a last little bling, I used Dark Blue stickles to outline the layer with the image.

That's it!  It was fun and you should check out Marilyn's blog.  She's got some awesome cards on there.  Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment.  I hope you have a great day!

Paris in the Summer

Today is Tuesday, so it's time for Teapot Tuesday Destination Station again but this is the last Tuesday of the month, so we Tickle a Teapotter.  That means we send cards to each other after signing up to participate.  We never know who is going to receive our cards.  This month the theme is Paris.  Going through all my stash, I had NOTHING!  So, of course, I went to the Internet and did a search on Paris Digi stamps and found Make It Crafty.  Wow!  She has some fabulous images in her store.  I was really blown away by the detail on them.  I hit pay dirt though and found these 2 fabulous images.
Of course I colored her with my Copics.  The sentiment was computer generated on SU Whisper White.  The card base is Stampin Up - Pink Pirouette which I've used also to mat the image and sentiment and also for the lacey border Martha Stewart punch.  I used the MS Leaf Branch punch for the leaves using SU Old Olive.   The pattern paper is from Basic Gray - Sugared collection and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Copics I used:  C0, C1; E31, E33, E35; E50, E51, E53; R01; R81, R83, R85; YR20, YR21, YR23, YR24, and Spica Gel Pen Clear.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comments.  Have a fabulous day!

Easter Chick Greeting Card and Bowdabra Sponsored Giveaway

March is National Craft Month, so to celebrate, Bowdabra is honoring this special event by showcasing the many uses of ribbon! If you love ribbon crafts, be sure to visit the Bowdabra Blog daily for great craft tutorials from their design team and enter to win prizes in a contest sponsored by Bowdabra.

Easter is just about upon us, but you still have time to make a card or two to send or give to that special someone.  Here is one that I made that is easy to put together.  Just remember that you don't have to make it exactly as I did.  If you have other Easter stamps or papers, then use what you have.  Make it your own.

Materials I used.

Stamp Image and Sentiment - Stampin Up Everybunny stamp set
Cardstock - Stampin Up Barely Banana; Lavendar Lace; Xpress It Blending Paper
Pattern Paper - From my stash
Ink - Stampin Up  Lavendar Lace
Accessories:  Flower from Wild Orchid Crafts
Stampin Up - Large Tag Punch  and Label Punch
Copic Markers:  BV00, V20, R81, R83, Y19, YR15, Y02, Y04, and Y08
Bowdabra Satin and Organdy ribbon
Bowdabra Hair Bow Tool & Ruler
Double Sided Tape, Glue Dots, and Stampin Up Dimensionals

The card is a standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" size.  After assembling your card to your liking, you make the bow using the Mini Bowdabra and the Hair Tool & Ruler.

1.       Begin by placing the Mini Bowdabra Ruler onto the Mini Bowdabra.   Cut 18″ of a 1/8” narrow Bowdabra ribbon and place it into the Mini Bowdabra.

2.       Place your flower with the stem into the slot of the Mini Bowdabra.  Pull it to get it as close as you can to the center.

3.        Place the organza ribbon to create a 2.5″ tail.

4.       Fold and press the ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra to form a 1.5″ loop.

5.       Continue to fold the ribbon to create a 1.5″ loop on the other side.

6.       Place your satin ribbon over the organza ribbon to create a 2” tail.
7.       Fold and press the ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra to form a 1.5” loop.

8.       Continue to fold the ribbon to create a 1.5” loop on the other side.
 9.       Scrunch down with the Mini Bowdabra Wand.

10.   While the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra, tie the ribbons tightly while the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra.  Gently pull the bow out of the Mini Bowdabra.  Trim the narrow ribbon close to the knot and trim the stem of the flower close to the bottom of the flower, and then trim the tails of the ribbons for a match.
11.   Adhere a large glue dot to the back of the bow and place it on your card.
 And here's the finished product.
