PSC08 Chirp Up

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I know I did.  I spent the time with my extended family and a cousin from out of state.  It is our big family celebration of the year.

I was glad though to get back to some of my regular stuff - like making cards.  This week on the Perfect Sentiments Challenge blog, the challenge was: create a card the reflects a sentiment of encouragement. The Twist: use the following sketch as inspiration for the design of your card. Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch to make it work for you as long as we can still see the sketch in your card somewhere.

I really like working with sketches to see what I can do with them, but this time I pretty much kept to the image shown above.  So here it is.
The card base is SU Tempting Turquoise as well as the scalloped circle mat for the image.  The image was stamped on Copic blending paper with Memento Black.  The image if from the Retired SU stamp set Very Punny.  The dp, lace flowers and brads are all from my stash.

The Copics I used are:  B91, B93; BG000, BG01; E23; Y11, Y13, Y15; and W0.  That's it.  Pretty simple this week.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my work.  I really appreciate your time and your comments.

Stitched Baby Boy

Finally starting to feel almost human again.  It's been a rough couple weeks, but I'm glad to be well before the big Thanksgiving celebration on Thursday.  Again I'm playing along with the Perfect Sentiments Challenge (http://perfectsentimentschallenge.blogspot.com/) and just getting my card in under the wire.

The Challenge: create a card that reflects a sentiment for "baby"
The Twist: use some form of stitching on your card...hand, machine, or faux, the choice is yours.

I had a hard time with my sewing on this one.  Spent $100 to service my machine last year and the thread breaks, then tried my Crafty Sew Easy which was worse, so forgive my sloppy sewing.  Maybe it gives it a little more character.

A good friend just gave birth to a baby boy 2 weeks ago which inspired me to create this.  The image is Whiff of Joy - Willow with Toddler stamped using Memento Black.  So cute.  The card base is SU Old Olive and the pattern paper is SU Petals and Paisley.  Love it!  All the pieces are matted on SU So Saffron.  The sentiment is from SU For a Friend also stamped in Memento Black and then colored
using Copic BG34.  The ribbon is from my stash and the button is from a Tim Holtz collection.

Copics used were BG000, BG0000, BG01, BG34; C0; E34, E35, E39, E50, E51;  R01; Y00, Y21, Y23; YR00, YR12, YR15; and 0.

Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate all comments.

Harvest Time

It's just about the middle of November and I lost half of that time.  I spent most of last week home from work sick with some yucky bacterial thing.  Went to the doctor and got those good meds and finally feeling almost human again.  I decided to use one of the images I sent out in the November Monthly Challenge kit to make a Fall themed card this week.  Isn't this little guy just the cutest thing ever.
I had a fun time working with him.  The stamp is Mimo Scarecrow from Bildmalarna.  They are a stamp company out of Sweden.  I started out using my Copics to color the image on GP White and matted it on SU Creamy Caramel.  Again I just love SU Marina Mist and I used that for the base card.  Part of my kit was the piece of SU Sage Shadow which I embossed using a Cuttlebug edge embossing folder - A2 Organic.  After layering that on the base, I used a piece of double-stitched brown felt ribbon across the bottom and then layered that matted image on top of that.  You may not be able to see if clearly, but the left side of the ribbon is looped rather than just straight across.  The leaves are from Recollections and the button is from a Tim Holtz collection.  I love his embellishments.

The Copics I used were B91, B93, B95, B0000; E13, E15, E17, E18, E21, E23, E25; Y04, Y13, Y18, Y19; YR14, YR23, YR24, YR31; YG03, YG05, YG11, W3, W5, and W6.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge No. 44

I needed a birthday card for my sis today since we were meeting for lunch.  We both have October birthdays, but we just couldn't get it together back then so we finally were able to meet today.  I decided to use the MFTWSC44 as my layout.
This was pretty fun although time consuming to first color the image with my Copics, but then I went ahead and cut her out so I could pop her up on my oval.
I started out with a base using SU Bashful Blue.  The dp is SU Cutie Pie.  I love this paper and hate to use it up.  The dp is matted on SU So Saffrom.  Those pieces all got layered on top of  one another.  The scallop oval is a Nestabilities die and I used SU small pearls in each scallop.  They are white.  They don't show up so well in this photo.  The border is a Martha Stewart lace edge border punch and I layered a strip of blue gingham ribbon over that.  The sentiment is from SU Happiest Birthday Wishes and I cut it out using Nestabilities Pennants die.  The stamp is from Magnolia, but I can't find the image online, so I don't know what she's called.

The Copics I used were B91, B95, B97; BG70, BG72; E21, E25, E27, E29; E31, E35, E50; R02; R29; Y23; and YG91.

I appreciate your stopping by to look at my cards and your comments.  Have a great day!

Thanksgiving PSC05 and November Monthly Challege

Well, here we are at the start of another week.  I had a very quiet weekend.  My "Gateway" modem crashed Friday night during the night so I woke up Saturday morning with no TV or Internet and found out later that my printer didn't work either since it's WiFi.  After my initial frustration and a call to my provider, I got busy with other things.  I had started working on this challenge and between Saturday and Sunday night, it all changed around so the finished product is not how I initially visualized my card.
I get to use this for 2 challenges this time.  The images I used from SU Day of Gratitude were in the card kit that I sent out to everyone for the Monthly Challenge on SCS and, of course it's for the Perfect Sentiment Challenge for this week.

The Challenge: create a card that portrays a sentiment of Thanksgiving/Fall.
The Twist: use brads or eyelets. If you don't own any brads or eyelets you may substitute with any type of metal embellishment.

I used SU Crushed Curry for the base of the card and really like the 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" square card.  The dp is from my stash, but it was perfect for this card.  The images are from SU Day of Gratitude.  They are stamped on white c/s and then cut out and popped up on the card with dimensionals.  The "ribbon" I used is fabric ribbon that I purchased some time ago from reasonableribbons.com.  It was also perfect for this card.  I love that Hunter Green color.  I was having a hard time figuring out how to add the sentiment and found these alphabets from Tim Holtz.  They fit very well and added just what was needed.  I ended it off with a little bling and the sparkley brad in the center of the image.   All in all, I was pleased with the result.  Again - no Copics this time, but I'm sure they'll be back soon.

Thanks for coming by.  I appreciate all comments.  Have a great day!

Let It Snow PSC04 Challenge and November CCC11 Challenge

This is just getting the Perfect Sentiments Challenge 04 in just under the wire.  Thought I'd give it a shot.  The Challenge: create a card that reflects a sentiment of "Season's Greetings".

The base is SU Marina Mist.  I used 2 pieces of Basic Gray Figgy Pudding layered on top of the base.  I embossed the snowflakes from the SU retired set - Lace Snowflakes and embossed 2 of them with Sterling Silver and 2 with Sky Blue embossing powder and then layered them randomly on top of the Figgy Pudding dp.  The sentiment is from See D's - Holiday Words and Sayings.  This set has been hanging around my stamp room for the last 3 years not being used.  I embossed it using the Sterling Silver ep and then cut it out and matted it on Marina Mist.  I am NOT a good bow maker, so I bought a Bowdabra bow maker and used it to make my bow and then glued a Prima flower in the center.  That's it.

This is also my first one done for the November Christmas Card Challenge.  I still need to make 4 more.

Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate your comments.  Have a wonderful day!

Cupcake 4 You!

This card was a first for me.  First time I've ever used a Digital Stamp.  It is called Cupcake For You and I got it from here.  http://www.etsy.com/shop/RhodaDesignStudio?section_id=10280465.  Check it out.  Rhoda's got some cute things in her shop.
As I said, this was my first digi stamp and I'm not so good yet at resizing them.  This one was either too big or too small.  Finally I just went with it.  I printed it on my Epson laser printer and had no problem using my Copics to color her in.

The base is SU Lovely Lilac (one of my favorite colors).  The dp is from SU Flowers For You package.  The sentiment is from SU's It's Your Birthday which I stamped using Regal Rose on white c/s and then punched out with my SU Label punch.  I then layered it onto a pice of SU Regal Rose c/s and trimmed around it by hand.  The ribbon is from my SU stash as well as the flowers that also came from my stash.  I used another piece of the pearl flourish I have to take a piece of it and hope more grow from it.  I used my Copics to color the image:  E0000, E000, E01; E31, E35, E37; R20, R21, R22, R32, E59, R29, W0.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my cards.  It's always appreciated.
