Cats Rule; Dogs Drool No. 2

Here is the second card I did this weekend using a card kit from the swap.  The image was really busy - lots of different parts to it and I used a lot of Copics coloring it.  I thought it was a really good choice though since it had both a cat and a dog in the image.
The image on this one is from an SU stamp set Friendship Grows.  I used Marine Mist and Peach Parfait cardstock.  The dp is from DCWV Pet's stack.  The Copics I used were Y11, Y15, Y18, Y19, W2, W3, W6, E30, E31, E33, E50, E51, E53; B0000, B21, B23, B24, RV11, RV13, RV14, G000, G28, R22, R27, R29, R32, YG03, and YG17.
Thanks for looking and I appreciate your comments.

Cats Rule; Dogs Drool

Some time ago (over a year ago I believe) I took part in a card kit swap which means each participant put together a kit of images, paper and embellishments on the theme and sent one of the kits to each of the participants in the swap.  I am finally getting the time and the mojo to actually use a couple of the kits and made the following 2 cards this weekend.  I really enjoyed playing with the images and embellishments sent and even have some left over to use for more creating.
This first one is Cats and Chicks.  I'm working on doing better with the gray blending.
Isn't she just so cute.  Well, to me all cats are girls and all dogs are boys.  LOL!  I used Barely Banana as the base of the card and Tempting Turquoise as the base for the image and the solid piece on the right side.  Everything else was included in the kit, so I don't really know where it came from.  The stamp is a Penny Black.
 Copics used:  Y000, Y00, Y06, Y345, Y38, W00, W1, W5, W8, E30, E31, E34, G0000, BG10, and R01.

Thanks for looking.  All comments greatly appreciated.

July Monthly Challenge Card #2

I was so glad over the weekend to have some time to play with my stamps and my Prismacolor pencils which I haven't used for ages.  This stamp just said use pencils on me!  The image was another one sent by vikkijo.  The image was kind of large, so I had a struggle trying to figure out how to showcase it, but I like the way it turned out.
I think I'm going to try to use my Prisma's more often and add them to some of my Copic cards when needed.  The colors I used were 901, 916, 941, 942, 943, 945, 948, 997, 1011, 1017, 1018, and 1023.  Thanks for looking.  I appreciate your comments.

Friendship

Last night I went to visit a GF.  I've known her for over 20 years (Yikes!).  I taught her in Sunday School when she was 12.  Now she's all grown up, married, with 6 children, the youngest of which is almost 2 1/2.  Her 4 yo son is scheduled to have heart surgery next week.  He had his first surgery just days after birth when they found that he had a defect.  I hadn't taken the kids a treat in awhile so I packed up some vanilla ice cream and toppings and took that with me.  The kids were very excited!  You would have thought they hadn't ever had any before.  While I was chatting with mom, they were creating a Thank You card for me.  When I was leaving later, 2 of the girls sneaked this in my purse and I didn't find it until this morning - signed by all of the kids.  It really touched me.  This is such a special family and proud to call them my friends.

Christmas Card Challenge July 2011

I take part in the SCS Christmas Card Challenge.  I've committed to making 5 cards every month so I won't be scrambling at the last minute making cards to send out.  This is my card for July.  For some reason I only had 1 sheet of the yellow dp and it only made 4 cards, so I had to use a green piece for one of the cards.  This was my first attempt at an easel cards.  Thanks to Beate on SCS for her video tutorial or I still wouldn't have figured it out.

Paper - SU Cherry Cobbler; GP White; SU Jolly Holiday
Stamp - Crafters Companion (Magical Christmas)
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Other:  Copic Markers:  G14, G17, G28, Y00, Y15, Y18, YR000; YR23; YR16, YR24, R32, R81, R14, B000, G12; G40; E40, E42, E43; E21, E23, E29; E41, R37, R39, R59, R89, E49, E79, E30, E31, and E33

2011 Summer Card Class Week 4

This is my first card for this class this week.  I hope I have time to try some more.  It was interesting trying to pull the color combo together. This time I picked out my stamp first because I knew I wanted to color something and put my skillzz to the test and then it was just a matter of finding a layout.
The colors are Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky, Taken With Teal, Tempting Turquoise, and white.  The flower was colored with YG93,  BG05, and BG10.

Copics Certification Class

On Saturday, July 16, I attended a Copics Certification class here in Houston.  It was a retake for me.  I had already taken the class last November in San Antonio, but I felt that I really needed a refresher since I don't have a lot of time to sit and just play with all my markers.  Jenn Balcer was the instructor again, and I just love her.  I really felt that it was time well spent.  Copics have become my passion and I love coloring with them and seeing how the colors can blend together.  Here are a few photos from the class.

This first one is me and my table mates Christine and Jilda.  They were really sweet ladies and we ended up having lunch together along with Jenn and a few others from the class.

Here are a couple pictures of Jenn and the class.

We practiced our techniques during the class and here are 2 images that I colored during the class.  Add the blue tone to the violet flower was an afterthought for me and I just did it to see how it would look and liked the effect.
I did this cute little girl.  I love the way her skin turned out.  Best I've ever done.  I'll have to come back and post the marker colors I used if I can figure it out.  I wasn't keeping track during the class.

Thanks for stopping by and looking.  Have a great day.

Online Card Class Week 3

I really thought this was going to be a challenge and at first it was.  Wasn't sure I'd be able to pull the colors together, but once I started on it, it just all came together.  The dp came from my stash.  I do know that the flower strip is an old Basic Gray.  I cased the card layout from SCS Carrie3118.

Cardstock  - SU Chocolate Chip; Whisper White
Ink - Ruby Red; Close to Cocoa
Stamps - Fabulous Flowers; Friendship Blooms

I stamped the flower 3 times and then cut it in 3 layers and popped them up one on top of the other.

July Monthly Challenge Card

I made this card for the SU Monthly Challenge from the July kit sent by Vikkijo.  She sent 3 House Mouse images and I chose this one to start with.  I've been using my Copics so much that I decided to try a different medium for this one so I hauled out my Prismacolor pencils and started working on it.  Most of it I did with the Prismas but in the end I had to use a few of my Copics also to get the result I was looking for.  Sorry I didn't keep out the colors I used.  I need to remember to write those down for my cards.  I used SU Groovy Guava as the base card and SU's Close to Cocoa as the mat for the image.  Can't wait to play with the other 2 images.

Card 2 for 2011 Summer Card Class Week 2

I made this card for the 2011 Summer Card Class Week 2.

I used SU Melon Mambo for the base. Stamped the Flourishes image Lamppost on SU Whisper White with Memento Black.  Mounted it on SU Pumpkin Pie.  Trimmed the corners with my SU Ticket Punch.  I used Copic markers to color the image ~ Y21, RV17, YR16, YG63, YG93, C00, and C2.  Popped on some pearl dew drops to finish it off.  Thanks for looking.

Online Card Class Week 2

This is the card I made for week 2 of the Online Card Class. I actually made another card first, but really didn't like it much. I think I tried putting it together too fast, but took more time with this and thought it out first.

Day One

This is the first day of my new Blog - Maggie's Cat House. Mostly this is a place to show case my cards and scrapbook pages that I create. Hopefully, I'll post something worthwhile of your time to come look over.
